Job Summary:

  • The Field Trainer is responsible for managing training activities within the assigned territory while ensuring compliance with all safety standards and company procedures. This role supports employee growth by promoting performance development, coordinating training opportunities, identifying training needs, and collaborating with training directors, managers, and jobsite leadership.
  • The Field Trainer will work closely with the jobsite foreman to determine daily tasks while providing hands-on instruction to apprentices and less experienced personnel. This includes teaching proper work techniques, reinforcing safe work practices, and supporting overall jobsite production. The Field Trainer will report directly to the assigned jobsite and assist with the field operations while actively training employees.
  • The Field Trainer will provide Quality Control audits and observations through internal documentation for visibility into the quality of work performed and the corrective actions needed to resolve poor workmanship.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Support new-hire onboarding by partnering with leaders to develop, maintain, and execute training matrices and departmental onboarding plans aligned to jobsite requirements alongside:
  • Deliver training content through in-person, virtual, and digital learning formats to support a variety of operational and learner needs.
  • Partner with the Training, Safety, and Quality team, field leaders, and operational leaders to prioritize training initiatives where they will have the greatest impact.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and deliver targeted instruction to address performance gaps, strengthen technical proficiency, and support successful employee onboarding.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and collaborate with leadership to ensure programs meet operational objectives and employee development goals.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of telecom and fiber industry terminology, field equipment, and core jobsite functions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with field testing equipment, including OTDR and OLTS, and apply that expertise in training and skills evaluation.
  • Provide technical guidance to assess hands-on performance, reinforce best practices, and improve field readiness.
  • Support new employees in acclimating to company culture while progressing through key technical training and development milestones.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to build employee confidence, strengthen technical capability, and support successful completion of training objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal learning partners to support training design, delivery, documentation, and administration as needed.
  • Promote and reinforce best practices that support quality workmanship, network integrity, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Provide regular updates on trainee progress, performance evaluations, and completed work to appropriate leaders and stakeholders.
  • Support field teams by delivering practical, jobsite-aligned training that addresses current operational needs and workforce gaps.
  • Provide structured on-the-job training for new hires and less experienced technicians to accelerate skill development and improve field performance.

Education and Experience:

  • Ability to lift to 20 pounds at once regularly.
