The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
The Industry and Security Analysis Group (ISAG) within JOID provides analytical, technical, and program support to promote, grow, and protect the U.S. industrial base. ISAG's support spans the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Commerce, and other agencies to deliver critical decision support to national security leaders. Our team informs policy decisions, enables execution of comprehensive strategies and monitors and reports on the effectiveness of implementation. This enables senior leaders to execute strategies for developing and sustaining a robust industrial base that meets our nation's strategic resource objectives. From policy to practice, we are a team of economic and national security professionals providing innovative solutions for our Nation's most pressing security challenges.
We have an immediate need for a National Security Analyst (Telecommunications) to provide onsite support out of the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA.
Responsibilities
The National Security Analyst (Telecommunications) will support the Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) for Industrial Base Policy on The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) Telecommunications Services Sector (also known as Team Telecom). Team Telecom is an interagency committee that advises the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in its public interest review of national security and law enforcement concerns that may be raised by foreign participation in the U.S. telecommunications services sector. Tasks include providing analysis and production of Team Telecom, ICTS, and FCC referred Drone Licensing Reviews; researching communications technologies; developing expertise of DoW critical communications systems and priorities; and managing the full lifecycle of Team Telecom cases, to include drafting risk assessments and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a desired focus area in National Security, Cybersecurity, or International Relations
  • 3+ years of relevant risk analysis experience; or 5+ years of experience supporting national security issues
  • Familiarity with Team Telecom, CFIUS, export controls, sanctions, or other related USG processes
  • Proven research skills to support technical, legal, and financial questions
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to travel
  • Active TS/SCI clearance

Desired:
  • Master's degree in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Cyber Security
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry-especially in operations, services, and/or technical positions
  • Experience or certifications in the cybersecurity realm
  • Previous OSD or major staff experience
