Job Title: Telecom Engineer
Duration: 12 Months (35 Hours per Week)
Location: Brooklyn & Bronx, NY (100% Onsite Secure Facilities)


Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Telecom Engineer to support and maintain enterprise telecommunications infrastructure across multiple locations. This role involves hands-on support, system administration, vendor coordination, and infrastructure management to ensure reliable and efficient telecom services.

The position requires working onsite, including support at secure facilities, and may involve travel across multiple locations within New York City.


Scope of Work:

The Telecom team is responsible for supporting telecommunications services for a large enterprise user base across multiple sites. Services include management and support of telephone systems, VoIP, data circuits, video conferencing, voicemail, instant messaging, and public announcement systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide telecom support including telephone repairs, moves, adds, and changes across various field locations and secure facilities.
  • Coordinate with telecom vendors for issue resolution, maintenance, and system upgrades.
  • Conduct site surveys and walkthroughs to assess requirements for telecom installations and troubleshooting.
  • Support migration from Centrex systems to VoIP, including planning, device placement, testing, and user training.
  • Manage and troubleshoot data circuits (WAN, Internet, PRI) in coordination with carriers and network teams.
  • Administer telecom systems using provisioning tools and Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS).
  • Support VoIP systems, voicemail platforms, and endpoint devices.
  • Configure and support video teleconferencing (VTC) systems, including installation and troubleshooting.
  • Design, maintain, and support MDF/IDF and structured cabling infrastructure.
  • Install, terminate, and test cabling; coordinate vendor cabling activities when required.
  • Maintain accurate telecom inventory, including voice/data lines and equipment assignments.
  • Utilize service desk tools to manage tickets, track issues, and document resolutions.
  • Provide end-user training and support for telecom systems and devices.
  • Support 24x7 operations as needed, including travel to various locations within NYC.
  • Work within secure facilities in Brooklyn and Bronx as required.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Telecom Engineer supporting enterprise telecom environments.
  • Experience with telecom systems, including VoIP, Centrex, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), and Cisco HCS.
  • Familiarity with telecom provisioning tools and systems for managing moves, adds, and changes (MAC).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10, Office 365/Exchange Online, web browsers, MS Visio, and MS Project.
  • Experience troubleshooting telecom hardware, software, and application issues.
  • Strong understanding of WAN, internet circuits, and telecom infrastructure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to resolve technical issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Experience providing real-time telecom support and resolving issues via phone and onsite support.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as IDF closets.
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.

  • Willingness to work onsite across multiple locations within NYC.
  • Availability for after-hours or emergency support as needed.
  • Comfortable working in secure, controlled environments.
