Job description

GridSource is a national telecommunications construction company delivering large-scale fiber infrastructure projects for leading carriers and utilities across the United States. As part of our continued expansion, we are building our underground construction capabilities in Arizona and seeking a qualified individual to support licensure, compliance, and execution oversight.
Job Title: Licensed Supervisor - Arizona Qualifying Party (A-12) RME
Location: Phoenix / Mesa, Arizona (Hybrid / Flexible)
GridSource is seeking an experienced underground utility construction professional to serve as the Qualifying Party (A-12 General Engineering) for our Arizona contractor license.
This role is focused on licensure, compliance, and technical oversight of underground construction activities. The position is not intended to function as a day-to-day operations lead but requires active involvement and oversight of work performed under the license.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior field professional, superintendent, or former business owner looking for a flexible, high-impact role.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the Qualifying Party (A-12) for GridSource's Arizona contractor license
* Provide technical oversight, supervision and guidance for underground construction activities, including:
* Directional drilling (HDD)
* Trenching and excavation
* Conduit installation and underground utility work
* Review project scopes, plans, and constructability for Arizona projects
* Participate in pre-construction planning and periodic field/site reviews
* Support compliance with:
* Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) requirements
* Municipal standards (MAG, City of Mesa, ADOT, etc.)
* Be available for consultation on field issues, inspections, and escalations
* Assist in establishing and maintaining construction standards and best practices
Required Qualifications
* Ability to serve as Qualifying Party for Arizona A-12 General Engineering Contractor license
* (Currently listed as a qualifier or able to qualify based on experience)
* Significant hands-on experience in underground utility construction, including:
* Excavation and trenching
* Directional drilling / horizontal boring
* Public right-of-way work
* Strong understanding of Arizona construction practices and permitting environment
* Ability to document and verify experience for ROC requirements
* Practical, field-based knowledge of underground construction methods
Preferred Qualifications
* Current or prior designation as an A-12 Qualifying Party in Arizona
* Experience with fiber optic / telecom infrastructure projects
* Background as superintendent, construction manager, or owner/operator
* Familiarity with MAG standards and municipal inspection processes
