Job description

  • The department currently employees three full time cardiologists, two of which are non-invasive cardiology and one physician who is interventional cardiology.
  • There are two physician assistants currently at the practice, one full-time and one part-time, with a third full-time position in process of being added due to volume increase.
  • An EP also sees patients at the clinic one day per week and performs procedures
  • The practice runs a pacemaker clinic once weekly.
  • The practice is located directly across the street from hospital allowing for very easy access for going between the inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Non-invasive cardiologists rotate weekly between inpatient and outpatient services and are supplemented by the physician assistants.
  • Hospital services consist of rounding/consults, TEE procedures, stress tests, echoes, and EKGs.
  • Medical call is divided among the non-invasive cardiologists with some supplementation by locums for weekend coverage.
  • Physician assistants provide some weekend rounding as well.
  • The interventional cardiologist is well-known throughout the region for his exemplary care and has been with the practice since 2016. The medical cardiologists have both been with the practice since 2019.
  • Both physician assistants have been with the practice for several years working under the guidance of the Cardiology physician team.
  • The outpatient practice is currently using Epic as their EMR system.
  • The hospital is currently using Paragon Allscripts, with a planned transition to Epic in the future.
  • Many other specialty service lines are available through UPMC both onsite and regionally.
  • Some of the services available locally are Pulmonary Medicine, Pain Management, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Neurology, ENT, Urology, Gynecology, UroGyn services. Services via tele-medicine for Rheumatology, Endocrinology, and Neurosurgery.
  • Other services currently include medical oncology, an on-site sleep lab, two cardiac catheterization laboratories, physical therapy, occupational health, and home health services, among many more.
