Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

This position is located in the PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) and involves direct patient care in a high-acuity environment.

Unit Specifics
  • Number of Beds: 15
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 for general patients
  • Staffing Description: 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT) and primarily Registered Nurses (RNs)
  • Type of Equipment: GE bedside monitors, bladder scanner, Central Tele Monitor, IV pumps, EKG machines, thermometers, suction devices
  • Documentation System: Expanse
Scheduling Requirements
  • Shifts available: 9 or 12 hours
  • On-call: Required 1-2 times a week and 1 call weekend per month
  • Shift Timing: Day and night shifts available
  • Holiday Call: 2 call holidays per year
Floating Policy

This is a closed unit, meaning staff will not float to different units.

Patient Experience Requirements
  • 1-2 years in ICU or ER settings
  • 1 year of floor experience
Required Certifications
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Requested Skill Set
  • Must have: ACLS, BLS, PALS required
  • Advanced Skills: Ventilator experience, critical drips
Procedures Performed on Unit
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • Bedside manipulations
  • Blood patches
Dress Code

Required uniform: Navy Blue Scrubs
