The Promontory Club is looking to fulfill a vacancy for a Golf Shop Attendant - Pete Dye Golf Course - Full time/Seasonal

The Golf Shop Attendant will be responsible for the supervision of associates, interns, shop attendants, outside staff, and temporary associates at one of the Promontory Golf Operations.  The Golf Shop Attendant will also be responsible for assisting with the management of the daily golf operation including managing and tracking play, assisting with merchandising, assisting with the execution of club events and tournaments, teaching and the servicing of the membership to ensure an exceptional golf experience.  Reports to the Head Golf Professional.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the management, supervision, training, mentoring and directing PGA Interns, outside service personnel and shop attendants to ensure quality operations and appearance.
  • Provide excellent customer service, professional advice and assistance to all members and their guests.
  • Promote Club events and have a vast understanding of each tournament.
  • Responsibility for merchandise stocking and re-ordering, displays, Inventory control and the day-to-day operation of the golf shop.
  • Help protect and control the assets of Promontory and the golf operations.
  • Understand and operate the ForeTees POS/ tee-time system. Participate in periodic inventories and ensure accuracy of daily financial records/reports.
  • Maintain the effectiveness and cleanliness of the shop merchandising operation, outside service operations, and range facilities.
  • Assist in the promotion and sales of the golf shop merchandise and maintain a high level of product knowledge for our vendor selections.
  • Handle membership special orders, daily sales, and special promotions.
  • Operate and assist members with the GHIN Handicap system.
  • Any other reasonable request or responsibility as assigned by the Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf Operations, or your immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work practices to management; complete safety training and certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Any related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; must have good written and verbal communication skills; must have excellent customer service skills; previous experience in golf instruction and club fitting; basic computer skills and competency in the following, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.

WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON JOB: Abide by Promontory policies and procedures and submit ideas for possible revision; work independently with little supervision; courteous and helpful with Promontory Club Members and employees; practice proper and timely communication among the entire golf department personnel and keep members satisfied and well informed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time; ability to spend time in an outdoor environment in the sun, rain and other conditions; ability to lift 30lbs regularly and the ability to lift up to 60lbs occasionally; must be willing to work various hours, holidays and weekends.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Wages range from $20/hr and will be commensurate with experience upon employment.
