Job description

Tectonic is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our Orange County, NY Civil Engineering team in Spring 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of licensed professionals while gaining valuable, hands-on experience and advancing your career in the A/E/C industry.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions of this position include assisting in the creation of project designs from start to finish, including conceptual plans, detailed engineering, drainage analysis, and construction documents. They will develop plans, analyses, and details addressing permitting, site development, land grading, utilities, storm water management, erosion/sediment control, roadways, and water resources. Other essential functions include generating the required engineering reports for review, performing site visits as needed to gather required data, and to review drawings and calculations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS Degree in Civil Engineering is required; MSCE is a plus;
  • EIT is preferred;
  • 0-3 years of related experience;
  • Must be detail oriented, with excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD 2019 or newer required;
  • Requires a valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle, as project site visits are required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee may also regularly move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time, sometimes in hazardous weather conditions, such as rain, snow, or extreme heat. For some types of investigations and assessments, the employee may lift and/or move up to 31 lbs. In accordance with the level of visual detail required for this position, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position. The employee may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients using the Company e-mail and telephone systems. The employee will regularly operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and copy machines. This position requires the frequent operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

PAY RANGE
Tectonic’s goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitable across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate’s work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000 / year
