Job description

BITCO Corporation, a leading provider of specialized insurance solutions, is seeking an IT Project Manager to join our Digital Solutions team in Davenport, IA. With a strong national presence and 11 branch offices, BITCO delivers tailored insurance services to specialized industries including construction, forest products and oil & gas. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Position Summary:

The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing key project(s) that span across one or more business units. This includes accountable delivery and completion of projects while managing timeline, scope, and budgets. This role will be the enterprise advocate for their projects across a matrix organization. This position oversees all aspects of their assigned projects including metrics, resource alignment responsibilities, weekly status updates, reports for leadership, and proactive risk management.

The IT Project Manager will work directly with IT Leadership (Digital Solutions & Business Solutions leaders) to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. This role will also coordinate with other IT teams and organizational departments to ensure all aspects of each project are considered planned in advance of final delivery

Primary Responsibilities:

  • In partnership across all IT teams, oversee all aspects of assigned projects and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) lifecycle, providing proactive, fixedscope, and outcomebased delivery
  • Handles full project life cycle ownership and all related activities which include the following:
    • Establishes project deliverables and timeframes, while considering both short-term and long-term goals; holds the project team accountable for completion.
    • Establishes a clear project charter, team roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities to ensure project success.
    • Prepares and presents the project scope document; reaches agreement on project parameters and goals.
    • Prepares and maintains detailed project plan for all phases of the projective inclusive of operating metrics
    • Defines project scope, timelines, and resources needed to meet the business goal on time. Outlines Quality Assurance (QA) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) engagement and change management plan in project documentation. Creates work breakdown structures, builds activity lists, establishes activity sequencing, builds schedules, and estimates completions
    • Successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation, through deployment, and stabilization for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
  • Develop and manage all aspects of enterprise project engagement from vendor selection, planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change management, risks and issues mitigation
  • Run regular cadence meetings or check ins with key stakeholders while managing the day-to-day expectations with regards to accountable delivery. Act as first escalation point, and escalates to management as needed
  • Engages and manages vendors and consultant partners ensuring accountable delivery, resource/task coordination with internal teams, quality and operating metrics, and positive communication in tough situations
  • Anticipates and removes hurdles to project completion. Recommends contingencies as needed with help from senior management. Establishes risk profiles, quantifies risk data, and develops response with mitigation plans
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Ensure projects are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards and are delivered on time, within scope and budget
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
  • Solution-oriented and demonstrates flexibility
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Closes out projects, verifying and documenting project results, prepares final reports, summarizes successes and provides recommendations for improvements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including IT Leadership, business teams, and third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop and maintain professional and leadership development to stay up to date on emerging technologies, methods, and best practices; attend training as required to build and maintain proficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years project management experience in Financials Services, Insurance, or Software Development; with experience tracking and planning projects on time, on-schedule, and within budget
  • Experience moving from legacy technology to complex modern SaaS platforms (ex: Duck Creek, SFDC, Fabric, AI based engines) Ability to "tell the story" through transparent narratives utilizing metrics
  • Aptitude for synthesizing conversations and processing documentation to effectively communicate the most critical concepts required for understanding.
  • Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance
  • Experience with various business applications to manage projects, scorecards, communications, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented mindset, with demonstrated flexibility in problem solving, and the ability to use collaborative techniques to identify project problems and implement solutions
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) / PRINCE II certification is a plus
