Job description

Position Summary

The Project Manager (Travel) is responsible for the end-to-end management of assigned projects across DCSL warehouse locations nationwide. Based in Memphis and traveling up to 50% of the time to active job sites, this role owns all phases of project execution — from initial scoping and quoting through onsite management and final closeout. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. This is a highly self-directed, field-forward role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, logistics-driven environment.

What You'll Do

  • Own assigned projects from quoting phase through final closeout, including scope definition, timeline development, staffing, procurement, and budget management.
  • Travel to DCSL warehouse locations across the country (up to 50%) to provide onsite project leadership, manage crews and subcontractors, and ensure execution meets contract specifications.
  • Conduct Pre- and Post-Hand-Off meetings with the sales and operations teams to align on scope, set expectations, and document lessons learned.
  • Review technical documents, answer scope and scheduling questions, and monitor project costs and progress against established milestones.
  • Communicate directly with clients, contractors, designers, and subcontractors using an RFI/Q/P process regarding cost, staffing, scheduling, and change orders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including milestones, deliverables, and dependencies; revise plans through a structured change order process as needed.
  • Facilitate weekly project status meetings with team members, stakeholders, and leadership; proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Provide supervision and work direction to staff supporting projects, including payroll verification and approval.
  • Maintain organized project documentation to ensure continuity and historical records.
  • Collaborate with the sales team across all project phases and coordinate with safety professionals on training, incident investigations, and equipment/property damage reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver project status reports ensuring adherence to contract specifications.
  • Work alongside field technicians in the assembly and installation of equipment when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the broader operations team.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in a related field strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, machinery moving, construction, or construction safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-phase projects across functional areas with varying complexity and duration.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with peers on priority and design decisions.
  • Valid driver's license and clean background required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% to warehouse locations nationwide.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with warehouse operations, logistics, or data center infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with structured change order management and contract interpretation.
  • Proven track record managing subcontractors and cross-functional project teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Highly self-directed — you manage your schedule and project workload with minimal oversight.
  • Comfortable on the floor — equally at ease in a board room and on a warehouse floor directing crews.
  • Clear communicator — able to translate complex project details for clients, contractors, and executives alike.
  • Ownership mindset — you treat every project as your own and hold yourself accountable for outcomes.
  • Adaptable — you handle shifting priorities, last-minute changes, and multi-site complexity without losing focus.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding, field-based role. Candidates must be able to perform activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and full body movement — including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working at varying heights, near moving machinery or equipment, in non-temperature-controlled environments, and outdoors in all weather conditions and over uneven terrain.

Values & Culture

DCSL is looking for people who take pride in the work, show up for the team, and bring a no-job-too-small attitude to every site. We move fast, support each other, and build something worth being proud of. If that sounds like you, we'd love to talk.
