Job description


Applications are being accepted to establish a pool of qualified candidates for the position of Substitute  Adult Education  Instructor General Education Courses in Ethics at the East Valley Institute of Technology. This is a part-time as needed position located at our Main Street campus located in Mesa, AZ.  


Job Description: Under general supervision, the Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision during the temporary absence of a regular teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment while implementing lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher. The role requires engaging students in meaningful learning activities, and supporting their academic progress. Substitutes will also prepare reports and feedback for the regular teacher regarding student participation and performance.
Salary: $50.00 / Hour
Job Type: Non-Exempt, As-needed
Minimum Qualifications:






  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Ethics, Humanities, Philosophy, or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 18 graduate-level credits in Ethics, Humanities, Philosophy with a grade of "C" or higher.
  • At least one year of collegiate-level teaching experience.
  • Experience using CanvasGoogle Classroom, and ExamSoft or similar learning management systems.
  • Valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  • Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) if born after January 1, 1957


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of collegiate-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan instruction aligned with course objectives and post lesson plans in a timely manner.
  • Skilled in assessing students' skill levels and developing appropriate learning objectives.
  • Proficient in organizing instructional time, space, materials, and equipment to support effective learning.
  • Ability to plan and implement engaging classroom activities and assignments that reinforce learning objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in an academic setting.
