POSITION SUMMARY:


 Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medication maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Delivers medications to designated areas accurately and efficiently, including consolidating trips and recognizing priorities
  • Fills stock, Unit dose medications, medication orders accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner taking into account specific patient needs
  • Stocks shelves and medication bins and all areas of the pharmacy
  • Conducts IV preparation functions according to departmental processes using sterile technique
  • Record waste
  • Answer phone and determine order status; triage calls for appropriate resolution


Requirements


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • CA Pharmacy Technician from the CA Board of Pharmacy is required.
  •  Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
