Automotive Technician Apprentice

Sterling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram | Opelousas, LA

Sterling CDJR is looking for an Automotive Technician Apprentice who is eager to learn the trade and build a long-term career in the automotive industry. If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, and learning from experienced professionals, this could be the perfect opportunity to get started.

As a Technician Apprentice, you will work alongside and learn from our Certified Technicians while gaining hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing vehicles. Sterling Automotive Group will provide training, certifications, and ongoing support to help you grow into a fully qualified technician.


Schedule

Full-time Monday–Friday 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
May have the occasional Saturday from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM


What You'll Do
  • Assist certified technicians with diagnosing and repairing customer and dealership vehicles
  • Help disassemble and reassemble vehicle components
  • Support technicians in performing comprehensive vehicle inspections
  • Record diagnostic findings, safety concerns, and maintenance recommendations
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Properly store and care for tools and equipment
  • Complete required training and certifications provided by the dealership
  • Follow all dealership and industry safety standards

What We're Looking For
  • 1–2 years of experience in a professional automotive setting preferred
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and desire to learn the trade
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment
  • Good work ethic and willingness to learn from experienced technicians
  • Basic knowledge of automotive systems is a plus but not required

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years old due to insurance requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform manual tasks
