The Technical Production Solutions Engineer lll plays a pivotal role in solution development, systems engineering, technical proposal development, engineering coordination, and customer engagement across all Nomad market segments. This role serves as the technical bridge between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Customers, ensuring customer requirements are transformed into compliant, manufacturable, and executable solutions.


The Technical Production Solutions Engineer lll provides technical leadership during opportunity qualification, solution development, proposal generation, contract review, project handoff, and post-award technical support. This individual is responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary engineering reviews, validating solution architecture, managing technical risks, estimating engineering effort, and ensuring successful transition from sales to execution.


Essential Functions / Responsibilities:


Accountabilities

Technical Accuracy

  • Accountable for the technicalengineeringaccuracy of all proposals, solution concepts, engineering assumptions, calculations, estimates, and technical deliverables.
  • Conduct technical reviews of budgetary quotes and formal RFI/RFP/RFQ responses on behalf of:
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME)
  • Electrical Engineering (EE)
  • IT Engineering (ITE)
  • Electrical Systems Engineering (ESE)
  • Manufacturing Engineering (MFE)
  • Ensure customer requirements and engineering standards are accurately reflected in all technical proposals and solution designs.

Systems Engineering Leadership

  • Serve as the systems engineering lead during opportunity development and pre-award activities.
  • Provide oversight of solution architecture and system integration considerations.
  • Ensure alignment between customer requirements, engineering standards, manufacturability, project schedules, and budget constraints.
  • Facilitate coordination across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.

Compliance & Approval

  • Ensure technical proposals meet all internal standards, regulatory requirements, industry specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Identify compliance gaps and technical risks prior to proposal submission.

Product & Systems Knowledge

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Nomad products, systems, technologies, engineering standards, and construction methodologies.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of integrated mechanical, electrical, networking, communications, power generation, HVAC, and systems architecture principles.


Strategic Support

Requirements Management

  • Lead technicalengineeringrequirements reviews during opportunity development.
  • Analyze Statements of Work, technical specifications, compliance matrices, and contract requirements.
  • Identify requirement conflicts, ambiguities, technical risks, and compliance gaps.
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability documentation, as necessary.

Solution Architecture

  • Develop conceptual system architectures, block diagrams, and integrated solution concepts.
  • Evaluate interactions between mechanical, electrical, IT, communications, power, and customer-furnished equipment.
  • Validate proposed architectures for feasibility, manufacturability, serviceability, and operational effectiveness.

Technical Risk Assessment

  • Identify technical, integration, manufacturing, deployment, and schedule risks.
  • Develop mitigation plans and communicate risk impacts to stakeholders.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and risk management activities.

People

  • Collaborate effectively withSales,Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Field Service, Supply Chain, and Project Management teams.
  • Mentor Solution Sales Engineers and other developing technical personnel.


Process & Reporting

Sales Process Support

  • EducateSales andcustomers on Nomad capabilities and validate technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, IT, Systems, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop customer solutions.
  • Participate in customer meetings, site visits, demonstrations, and technical discussions.

Technical Proposal Development

  • Review all customer RFI/RFQ/RFP documentation and technical requirements.
  • Identify specification discrepancies, risks, assumptions, and areas requiring clarification.
  • Develop:
  • Technical narratives

  • Engineering drawings
  • Weights and balances
  • HVAC calculations

Proposal Governance

  • Lead multidisciplinary proposal reviews involving Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary technical reviewer prior to customer proposal submission.

  • Ensure proposal assumptions, exclusions, technical risks, and engineering requirements are documented and approved.

Engineering Estimating

  • Develop engineering labor estimates required to execute projects based on customer requirements and project complexity.
  • Estimate engineering effort associated with:
  • Mechanical design
  • Electrical design
  • IT/network development
  • Systems integration
  • Technical documentation
  • Testing and validation
  • Customer support activities
  • Continuously improve estimating methodologies and estimate accuracy.

Contract Review Support

  • Represent Engineering during customer and internal contract review meetings.
  • Document engineering concerns, technical risks, customer commitments, assumptions, and action items.
  • Maintain an Engineering Open Issues Register and drive closure of assigned action items.
  • Coordinate follow-up activities with Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Operations teams.

Project Handoff Support

  • Represent Engineering during internal project handoff meetings to Project Management.
  • Lead technical transition activities from Sales to Project Execution.
  • Ensure complete communication of:
  • Customerengineeringrequirements
  • Technical scope
  • Design assumptions
  • Proposal deviations
  • Open issues
  • Engineering risks
  • Customer commitments
  • Support project kickoff meetings and assist with resolution of technical questions during project startup.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track proposal activity, technical review metrics, estimating accuracy, and engineering support performance.
  • Deliver bi-annual reports on:

  • Department improvement initiatives
  • Provide routine updates to management regarding technical opportunities, resource needs, risks, and performance metrics.

Basic Knowledge Desired

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline required.
  • SolidWorks experience required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in systems engineering, solution engineering, technical sales engineering, project engineering, systems integration, or related technical fields.
  • Experience supporting RFI, RFQ, and RFP proposal development.
  • Experience conducting multidisciplinary engineering reviews.
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering estimating and resource planning.
  • Experience supporting contract reviews, project handoffs, and technical project startup activities preferred.
  • Understanding ofsystems architecture, interface management, requirements management, and technical risk assessment.
  • Experience in mobile command centers, telecommunications, emergency response, defense, public safety, specialty vehicle manufacturing, or similar industries preferred.
  • Evidence of CRM utilization and adherence to business processes.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
  • PMP, INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, or other applicable technical certification preferred.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
