About the Service Manager Position:

As a Service Manager, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of all mechanics engaged in the repair and maintenance of trailers. Your primary duties will include prioritizing work order requests, directing mechanical work, and maintaining shop efficiency. Leadership skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are key to ensuring our high standards of service and customer satisfaction are met. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in trailer repairs, a strong understanding of trailer systems, and experience supervising a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and prioritize internal and external workflow to meet customer expectations
  • Assign work to maintenance team, ensuring timely completion of repairs
  • Prepare and approve estimates for trailer repairs and maintenance
  • Schedule inspection, maintenance, and repair of trailers to maximize efficiency
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance on service vehicles and shop equipment
  • Direct and manage the maintenance team, including training, supervision, and performance management of maintenance staff
  • Ensure quality control through inspection and supervision
  • Supervise purchasing of shop supplies, tools, and equipment through approved vendors
  • Recommend improvements to trailers, service vehicles, and shop equipment in coordination with management
  • Maintain maintenance team productivity and shop efficiency levels in accordance with company standards
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of work orders, repairs, and maintenance
  • Ensure safety standards and company policies are followed
  • Keep updated on industry standards
  • Ensure a safe work environment

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Three to four years of experience in maintenance
  • One to two years of supervision and leadership experience
  • Mechanical expertise and technical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Organizational skills
  • Safety awareness
  • Experience in the trailer/transportation industry preferred
