Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, R&D is recruiting for the role of Automation Technical Product Manager, Protein Development, located in Spring House, PA, USA or Malvern, PA, USA.
The mission of the Therapeutics Development Product Group is to implement innovative technology to transform the development and delivery of life changing medicines for the J&J IM, R&D portfolio; focusing on Automation and Computation as the Business Technology North Star.
In this role, the candidate will re-define our global protein therapeutic development labs into the data-centric highly automated lab of the future. The role will have a strong focus on end to end data flow via integration of disparate data systems and implementation of digital strategies to enable Digital Twin technology, ensuring technical solutions to drive the best science and FAIR data.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own end-user facing tools for services including but not limited to: computational fluid dynamics modeling, in silico drug development tools, cell engineering analyses, and digital automation programs; modernize the AWS landscape to ensure security, containerization, and cost-efficiency.
  • Technical Owner of SaaS and OPx/VPx based applications for lab operating and analysis technologies; coordinate server install and upgrades for bioreactor systems such as Ignition and BioBrain.
  • Deliver innovative digital solutions for process automation, standardization and integration with digital platform architecture; drive lean documentation practices in accordance with SDLC.
  • Work with functional teams to build digital roadmaps for E2E data flows from collection to consumption, including action plans and resourcing/funding proposals for capital and operating expenses.
  • Collaborate across business areas with partners, vendors, technical staff and project teams to drive value and deploy innovative solutions.
  • Continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, and champion organizational change.
  • Establish Outcomes & Key Results and metrics to evaluate performance and user happiness.
  • Understand and apply Johnson & Johnson's Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.

Qualifications
Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree is required preferably in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Systems/Automation Engineering or a related subject area.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.

Experience and Skills:
Required:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience enabling technical scientific solutions within the pharmaceutical or like industry.
  • Proficiency in AWS S3, EC2, Lambda, cost management and modernization.
  • Strong foundational IT skills including architecture principles, data engineering, cloud computing, AI/ML and database design.
  • Experienced in SDLC for GxP data systems.
  • Understanding data flows between end-users, instruments and execution systems.
  • Knowledge of network connection setup to support R&D labs (firewalls, server connections, cyber security).
  • Experience with programming language for data integration and extraction (Python, Java, R..).
  • Commercial software technical management and vendor relationship.
  • Agile methodology approach and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Asset Management, BitBucket/GitHub).
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and derive actionable insights.
  • Superb communication & ability to influence, negotiate, and build partnerships, teams, and trust across functions.

Preferred:
  • Experience in a scientific, digital product, or lab operations environment, specifically biologic drug development or R&D.
  • Commercial software deployments or upgrades at a global scale.
  • Experienced with ISA-88/95 and ability to establish standards across global sites.
  • Working understanding of OPC Unified Architecture and Event/Asset Framework.
  • Experience in leading a team of external resources.
  • Understanding of data lakes, eLab Notebooks and historians.
  • Data connections to support PAT (spectral data etc), experience with SynTQ or Process Pulse.
