Job description

New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Manager

Location: Rockford, IL
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shift
Pay: Up to $50/hour, depending on experience
Contract: 1-year contract with potential for temp-to-hire

Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is hiring for a leading life sciences organization known for developing and manufacturing innovative products and technologies.

We are seeking an experienced New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Manager to represent Manufacturing and Operations on cross-functional NPI core teams. This role will lead the successful technical transfer of new products and processes from development into manufacturing, ensuring products are manufacturable, processes are well-defined, documentation is complete, and operational risks are identified and addressed throughout the transfer process.

This is an excellent opportunity for a project-focused professional with experience working at the intersection of R&D, manufacturing, engineering, technical operations, and product development. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading through influence, managing multiple priorities, and driving projects forward in a complex, cross-functional environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Represent Manufacturing and Operations as a core team member on New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.

  • Lead and coordinate the transfer of new products and processes from R&D/development into manufacturing.

  • Partner with Program Management, R&D, Technical Operations, Manufacturing Sciences & Engineering, and manufacturing work centers to establish reproducible products and processes.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables owned by Manufacturing and Operations.

  • Conduct manufacturing process design reviews and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential manufacturing constraints.

  • Develop and maintain manufacturability assessments and related Operations project deliverables.

  • Create and maintain technical transfer plans, reports, status updates, and project documentation.

  • Prepare presentations and lead Manufacturing/Operations readiness reviews.

  • Develop and update work instructions, manufacturing procedures, and product documentation based on inputs from R&D, Manufacturing, and other technical teams.

  • Translate developmental outputs into manufacturing infrastructure, SKU creation, processes, documentation, and procedures.

  • Proactively identify project risks, gaps, dependencies, and resource needs and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate stakeholders across functions and, when needed, across multiple sites or international locations.

  • Ensure NPI Core and Extended Team members remain aligned on project objectives, priorities, forecasts, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Support continuous improvement and manufacturing readiness throughout the product lifecycle.

Leadership & Project Management

This role requires the ability to lead without direct authority and influence stakeholders across multiple functions.

You will:

  • Identify and engage the appropriate technical and business stakeholders throughout the NPI process.

  • Build alignment across teams with different priorities, responsibilities, and timelines.

  • Drive accountability for project actions and deliverables.

  • Proactively identify opportunities, constraints, and risks rather than relying on reactive problem-solving.

  • Balance strategic objectives with the tactical execution required to meet project milestones.

  • Communicate effectively with technical teams, project leadership, and business stakeholders.

  • Keep cross-functional teams focused on shared goals and successful manufacturing transfer.

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Biology, or a related scientific/technical field.

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience following completion of an undergraduate degree.

  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), product development, manufacturing transfer, process development, or design transfer.

  • Experience transferring products or processes from R&D/development into manufacturing is highly desirable.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, timelines, and stakeholders.

  • Ability to influence and lead across functions without direct authority.

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to identify constraints, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and ISO 9001 requirements.

  • Experience with ERP systems such as PRMS, E1, or similar platforms.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or comparable project-management tools.

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design of Experiments (DOE), or other process improvement methodologies.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP and/or Minitab.

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a changing environment.

  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills.

  • PMP certification is preferred but not required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?
  • Up to $50/hour, depending on experience

  • 1-year contract with potential for temp-to-hire

  • Monday–Friday day shift

  • Fully onsite in Rockford, IL

  • Opportunity to work on new product introduction and manufacturing transfer

  • Exposure to cross-functional projects involving R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and technical operations

  • Opportunity to contribute to products from development through manufacturing readiness

  • Virtual interview process using Microsoft Teams
