Responsibilities
- Coordinates and prioritizes ordered exams.
- Collaborates and coordinates with medical staff including, but not limited to, physicians, APC's, medical fellows and residents, and other medical staff.
- Collects medical information and patient histories.
- Performs vascular ultrasound exams in accordance to the department and overseeing accredited body's outlined protocols and procedures.
- Appropriately documents exam and preliminary impressions.
- Cleans and maintains equipment, supplies, and work area.
- Maintains proficiency in all vascular lab procedures and learns new protocols, as additional procedures are developed.
- Participates in research studies above standard-of-care testing, as assigned.
- Precepts students, as assigned.
- Mentors Level I and Level II sonographers, as assigned.
- Performs lead technologist duties, as assigned.
- Rotates to community clinic locations, as assigned and as determined by department needs.
- May be assigned shared mobile outreach duties in support of Vascular Surgery clinics at various outreach locations.
- Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Ability to provide care to the population served.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.
- Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status.
- Ability to provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.
- Demonstrated knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology.
- Demonstrated effective communication and human relation skills.

- Must meet all eligibility requirements of a Vascular Lab Technologist II.
One of the following:
- Three (3) years of experience as a Vascular Lab Technologist.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Vascular Lab Technologist and the completion of an approved, one (1) year externship program.
Verified competency in at least two (2) of the following areas:
- Pelvic congestion Duplex
- Mesenteric Duplex - Nutcracker's Syndrome evaluation
- Renal Duplex
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- One of the following
- Current certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Current certification as a Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
- Current certification as a Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography RT(VS) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
