Job description

Job Title: Scientist / Sr. Specialist – Downstream Process Development

Location: Carlsbad, CA

Duration: 6-Month Contract (Temp-to-Perm Potential)

Pay range: $50–$70/hr on W2

Schedule: 8 AM–5 PM, 100% On-Site


Job Description:

We are seeking a Scientist/Sr. Specialist – Downstream Process Development with hands-on experience in downstream bioprocessing and chromatography. The ideal candidate will support process development, scale-up, and technology transfer activities for client projects.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • 4+ years of industry experience in downstream process development.
  • Experience with chromatography, purification, NFF, and TFF.
  • Hands-on experience with bench- and pilot-scale purification equipment.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, technology transfer, and process scale-up.
  • Experience with analytical assays supporting downstream development.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed.

Key Responsibilities: Execute downstream experiments, analyze and interpret results, troubleshoot processes, and support development/tech-transfer documentation including SOPs, protocols, reports, process flow diagrams, process descriptions, and BOMs.
