Technical Design Coordinator

Reports to: Associate Director of Technical Design

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Technical Design Coordinator assists the Associate Director of Technical Design in managing and directing the workflow of the Technical Design Department. This role has a target split responsibility of 50% administrative function and 50% technical design documentation.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Design Coordination:

  • Maintain the capacity calendar, department schedule (RUNN) and assign labor, to ensure projects are properly staffed to hit required timelines.
  • Manage all small and quick turn projects by creating the required Start Up documents, schedule, and work assignments.
  • Maintain and periodically review the Technical Design Departments standards, best practices, process and communication documents.
  • Maintain and periodically review the Technical Design Departments templates for drafting and CNC.
  • Thoroughly review technical design drawings prior to client submittal and shop release for assigned projects.
  • Clearly communicate the agreed upon fabrication methodology to the Technical Design team.

Problem Solving:

  • Review and synthesize the ideas of others to create the best and most appropriate solutions.
  • Analyze and problem-solve different, unique fabrication challenges with an eye towards finding simple effective solutions with frequent use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Make decisions based upon critical thinking, input of others, sound judgement, risk aversion, and the budget.

Team Support

  • Promote effective collaboration and idea sharing.
  • Work to support the Project Managers, Technical Designers, Project Leads and Fabricators so that they can each approach their job with confidence and trust.
  • Use and promote Ravenswood Studio's Key Predictors of Success.
  • Inspire positivity, exude a sense of calm competence, and listen to others.
  • Promote our efforts towards Continual Incremental Improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



                Collaborative Leadership:
                The Technical Design Coordinator works alongside the Associate Director of Technical Design and is involved, but not responsible for the following:
                            • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
                            • Proficiency in Autodesk products including 3D AutoCAD.
                            • Relevant degree / diploma, professional certification, or equivalent work experience/demonstrated skills.
                            • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Detailer in one or more of the following industries: museum exhibit, display, cabinetry / millwork, theater, or opera.
                            • Is proactive, aware, and focused.
                            • High attention to detail.
                            • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
                            • Ability to prioritize, solve problems, and think analytically.
                            • Strong understanding of the materials and methods used in a custom fabrication facility.
                            • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
                            • Is honest, proactive, responsive, anticipatory, and shows empathy for others
