Can you make money from technical analysis?

Job description

Payrate: $60.00 - $64.75/hr.

Summary:
The Tax & Compliance Technology team supports the tax and compliance capabilities that underpin Companies Group’s global travel marketplace. The team manages tax content for tax-liable and tax-interested jurisdictions, coordinates jurisdiction launches, and operates tax engine and compliance workflows in partnership with tax, product, engineering, legal, finance, and business operations teams.
As a Technical Operations Analyst II, you will help keep Company’s Group’s tax technology accurate, reliable, and ready for regulatory and business change. You will investigate issues, maintain tax content and configuration, analyze operational data, support launches and testing, and document solutions across the tools and workflows used by the Tax & Compliance Technology team. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role for someone who enjoys connecting data, systems, process, and customer or partner impact.

Responsibilities
  • Execute approved tax content and configuration updates for tax-liable and tax-interested jurisdictions, including rates, tax codes, geocodes, effective dates, and taxability settings.
  • Investigate and resolve non-standard tax technology issues by analyzing data and system behavior, applying documented solutions, validating outcomes, and escalating complex or unprecedented issues appropriately.
  • Support jurisdiction launches, monthly content and rate changes, tax-engine updates, and compliance activities through preparation, testing, production validation, live-site checks, and evidence-based completion records.
  • Monitor operational queues, reports, and dashboards; identify patterns, anomalies, recurring issues, and data-quality gaps; and recommend practical improvements to reduce manual effort and repeat incidents.
  • Partner with Tax, Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Market Management, Partner Support, and external technology providers to clarify requirements, coordinate resolution, and communicate status clearly.
  • Maintain accurate runbooks, knowledge articles, ticket histories, audit evidence, and process documentation, while contributing to automation and other improvements that make tax technology operations more efficient and dependable.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Tax, Accounting, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience in technical operations, tax operations, compliance operations, data analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience troubleshooting non-standard problems by analyzing data, identifying patterns, researching known solutions, and validating that corrective actions resolved the issue.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, spreadsheet analysis, data cleaning, or comparable tools used to investigate operational issues and support reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks, follow change controls and escalation paths, and maintain accurate records of work from intake through completion.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain operational or technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills
  • Experience with indirect tax, tax content, jurisdictional rules, tax determination, tax engines, or compliance technology in a global, lodging, travel, commerce, or marketplace environment.
  • Experience with platforms such as Vertex, Avalara, Salesforce, Jira, or comparable operational systems.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, user acceptance testing, production validation, audit trails, incident or problem management, and operational readiness practices.
  • Experience creating reports, dashboards, reconciliations, or trend analyses using SQL, spreadsheets, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with automation, AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows that improve operational accuracy, speed, knowledge access, or reporting.
