Job description

Journeyman Lineman

The Techline Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the installation, transmission, and distribution lines between power plans, buildings, or individual homes.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Dig trenches or climb poles to repair or maintain underground and overhead electrical cables.
  • Provide for connecting and disconnecting, installing and removal, moving and transferring of various electrical devices on customer facilities such as but not limited to transformers, transformer banks, regulators, switches, switching devices, capacitor banks, etc.
  • Install electricity meters at residential homes and buildings.
  • Perform inspections to prevent power outages by replacing or repairing components.
  • Clear away tree branches or other hazards near live power installations.
  • Troubleshoot power outages and issues with electrical lines and wires.
  • Attend callouts and performing repairs in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Report progress, complications, concerns, and delays to the supervisor.
  • Always adhere to safety standards, as well as comply with company and industry regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience working in similar or related role.
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL within three (3) months of employment
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test
  • Adhere to company safety and health policies – Techline provide on-the-job safety training
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Able to adapt to seasonal temperature changes and inclement weather.
  • Able to meet physical requirements. Actions include but are not limited to, standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, climbing ladders, cutting wire, lifting and maneuvering up to fifty (50) pounds or more without assistance, and more.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
