Job description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with orthopedic trauma and total joint revision experience for a hospital operating room specializing in high-volume orthopedic surgery.
Job Details
• Work in a hospital Operating Room department with 26 beds across five high-volume orthopedic ORs,
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• Handles complex total joint revision and polytrauma orthopedic cases,
• Uses equipment including Storz, Stryker, Olympus, and Intuitive Robot as well as the Mako robotic system and Hana table,
• Utilizes multiple orthopedic vendor systems including Stryker, DePuy, Smith & Nephew, and Zimmer,
• Epic EMR used,
• Day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on 10 or 12-hour shifts,
• 1:4 weekend rotation with 12-hour shifts,
• Weekend call coverage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM,
• One overnight trauma call shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with additional call scheduled per specialty team rules if applicable,
• 25-mile float policy between facilities as needed,
Job Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required,
• Current CST certification in good standing,
• License required if applicable,
• Level 1 trauma experience required,
• Proven experience in orthopedic surgery, including trauma and total joint revisions,
• Strong working knowledge of multiple vendor systems and orthopedic instrumentation,
• Experience with Mako robotic-assisted surgery and Hana table positioning,
• Epic EMR experience,
• Driver's License required for consideration,
• 2 professional references required,
• Ability to adapt quickly in high-acuity, fast-turnaround OR settings,
• Weekend and extended shift availability required,
Additional Information
• First scrub complex total joint revision cases using multiple vendor systems with minimal guidance,
• First assist on polytrauma orthopedic cases with minimal supervision,
• Support high efficiency standards including 30-minute room turnovers and a 90% first case on-time start rate,
• Collaborate with a tight-knit surgical team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment,
• Preferred experience includes General, GU/GYN, Ortho trauma, ortho joints, Neurosurgery, ENT, Pediatrics, Plastics, Dental, and Endovascular,
• Ideal candidates are flexible, accountable, timely, and strong team players,
• Teal scrubs are issued by the hospital,
• Local candidates are considered, though local bill rates apply within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility for Maine or New Hampshire residents,
• Local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions,
• RTO should be minimal, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at the manager's discretion,
• Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should disclose this during consideration,
• Airpods, laptops, and cell phone usage are prohibited on the unit
