What is a tech new grad?

Tech New Grads are recent college or university graduates who have earned degrees in technology-related fields such as computer science, information technology, or engineering. They are typically starting their first full-time roles in the tech industry and may participate in structured new grad programs offered by companies. These roles are designed to help new graduates transition from academic settings to professional work environments, often providing mentorship, training, and opportunities for career growth.

What are some common challenges tech new grads face when transitioning from university to their first professional role?

Tech new grads often encounter challenges such as adapting to the pace and expectations of a professional environment, learning to work on larger codebases, and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. Unlike academic projects, industry roles usually require more rigorous testing, documentation, and version control practices. Additionally, balancing independent problem-solving with seeking guidance from senior team members is key to success. Embracing feedback and being proactive about learning new tools or technologies can help smooth the transition and foster professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tech new grad, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech New Grad, you need a solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, programming languages such as Python or Java, and a relevant degree like Computer Science or Software Engineering. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), collaborative platforms, and sometimes cloud services or basic DevOps tools is often expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, eagerness to learn, and effective communication skills help new grads adapt and contribute quickly to teams. These competencies are crucial for integrating into fast-paced technical environments and accelerating professional growth.

Description
Just earned your FNP license? This is the start you deserve. At our Bronx 174th clinic, earn $125,000 to $188,000 plus a sign-on bonus and up to $45,000 in quarterly performance bonuses. As a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), you'll practice full-scope family medicine across the lifespan, backed by AI copilots that cut your charting time. New Grad Training Program: three months of 1:1 mentorship with a tenured provider, no independent patient load, and a clear path to your full provider role. Modern tools, real support, and a team invested in your growth from day one.
About Nao Medical
Nao Medical is a modern, multi-specialty healthcare network committed to accessible, high-quality, patient-centered care. For 13+ years, we've proudly served over a million New Yorkers by combining clinical excellence with compassionate service to create healthier communities.
Why You'll Love This Role
  • A dynamic patient mix. Preventive care plus acute visits across the lifespan, so no two days look the same.
  • Charting that doesn't follow you home. AI-powered documentation tools cut your charting time so your focus stays on patients.
  • Leadership that shows up. A collaborative culture with strong, present leadership and internal training to grow your career.
  • A real training program, not a sink-or-swim. Three months of structured, paid training with no independent patient load, so you build confidence before you fly solo.
  • 1:1 mentorship with a tenured provider. Learn hands-on from an experienced clinician, paired with a self-paced online didactic program.
  • A clear path to independent practice. Complete the program and competency testing, then step into your full provider role.
  • A schedule that fits your life. Multiple schedule options, built around how you want to work.
  • Real rewards for great care. A sign-on bonus, quarterly performance incentives, and a CME allowance (details below).
What You'll Earn + What You'll Get
  • Base Salary: $125,000-$188,000 (depending on experience and schedule)
  • Sign-On Bonus: Up to $5,000 (based on experience)
  • Performance Bonus: Up to $45,000 annual incentive potential, paid quarterly.
  • Full Benefits Package: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life Coverage: Complimentary $50,000 Life and AD&D insurance.
  • Family Perks: Free discounted care for you and your family at any Nao Medical Clinic.
  • Financial Security: 401(k) retirement plan with competitive company match.
  • Time to Recharge: Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid leave programs.
  • Pet Insurance: Coverage to help care for your furry family members.
  • Professional Development: $1,000 annual CME allowance and internal leadership training.
How You'll Grow Into the Role
  • Train with a tenured provider: Spend your first three months in 1:1 in-person clinical training plus a self-paced online didactic program, with no independent patient load.
  • Build full-scope skills: Learn to assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan, all under direct supervision.
  • Step into independent practice: After completing the program and skills-based competency testing, take on your full provider role.
  • Clinical care: Conduct comprehensive assessments, diagnose and build evidence-based treatment plans for acute and chronic conditions, order and interpret labs and imaging, refer to specialists when needed, and educate patients on diagnoses, medications, and prevention.
  • Patient experience & flow: Deliver attentive care, keep clinic flow moving to reduce wait times, run telemedicine visits, and partner with medical assistants, scribes, and aftercare teams.
  • Tech-enabled documentation: Document encounters in the EMR and use AI copilots for documentation, clinical decision support, and admin, keeping records timely and compliant.
  • Team collaboration & leadership: Work alongside physicians and clinical staff, mentor interns and students, and contribute ideas to improve clinic efficiency.
  • Flexibility & growth: Join monthly provider syncs and one-on-ones, complete ongoing training, and stay flexible across multiple schedule options.

Requirements
  • MSN/DNP with Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialization
  • Active New York State NP license
  • Board certification: AANP or ANCC (FNP)
  • EMR experience and strong HIPAA knowledge
