Tech Lead Web Developer information

What is a tech lead web developer?

A Tech Lead Web Developer is a senior-level professional who oversees the technical aspects of web development projects while also guiding and mentoring a development team. They are responsible for making key architectural decisions, ensuring code quality, and collaborating with other team leads and stakeholders to deliver robust web solutions. In addition to hands-on coding, Tech Leads often coordinate project timelines, delegate tasks, and help resolve technical challenges, ensuring the successful completion of projects.

How does a tech lead web developer balance coding responsibilities with leading and mentoring the development team?

A Tech Lead Web Developer typically splits their time between hands-on coding and leadership tasks such as mentoring team members, conducting code reviews, and architecting solutions. Balancing these responsibilities requires strong time management and the ability to delegate tasks effectively. While Tech Leads are often expected to set technical direction and ensure code quality, they also play a crucial role in supporting team growth and fostering collaboration. It's common to spend part of each day coding alongside the team, while setting aside dedicated time for meetings, planning, and providing guidance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tech lead web developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tech Lead Web Developer, you need advanced proficiency in web development languages (such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS), strong architectural knowledge, and experience leading development teams, usually supported by a degree in computer science or related experience. Familiarity with modern frameworks (React, Angular, Node.js), version control systems (Git), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), as well as Agile methodologies, is typically required. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills help in mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering robust web solutions, driving team performance, and ensuring project success.

Job description

Company Description

iFLIP4 is the brand and network for people to care. We're creating the one home for everything related to nonprofits, doing good, and changing the world -- targeted at millennials who overwhelmingly want to do good but don't know how. They can come to the site and learn about causes with articles, videos and games; they can find a nonprofit they love; and they can support it all in one place. The first way they can do that is that for every iFLIP4 product purchased, iFLIP4 donates half of the profits to the charity of their choice.

Pre-launch, we have been featured in the New York Post, and we are also the recipients of the Brown University C.V. Starr Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship.

We have iFLIP4 Ambassadors (campus representatives) on 50+ college and high school campuses in the US, UK, and Canada, and iFLIP4.com has been visited in 140+ countries.

Some of our advisors include a former treasurer of IBM, a media expert who helped launch MTV, a Fulbright winning law professor, and a senior advertising executive in charge of $250 million of ad sales at Yahoo.
