Job description

Part Time Electrical Technology Instructor

SUNY Niagara is seeking dedicated, motivated individuals to provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise for our Electrical Technology Instructor position to continue to move the program forward in innovative ways. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.

General Description

The instructor will supervise and teach a full range of courses, including Principles of Electricity, Programmable Logic Controllers, Power Systems, Digital Electronics, Industrial Automation Networks, Measurement and Instrumentation, Control Systems Design, Integration and Implementation, Electronic Troubleshooting and Diagnostics, and Robotics.

  • Develop and revise curriculum
  • Implement modern processes and technologies
  • Assess program learning outcomes and advise students
Essential Functions
  • Work with and teach a diverse student population
  • Speak in front of groups of people
  • Communicate effectively with students, coโ€‘workers, supervisors, and the campus community
  • Develop, prepare, and present information
  • Operate computers
  • Physically perform job duties
  • Have knowledge of alternative educational delivery platforms
Required Qualifications
  • Journeyman electrician plus 1 year of experience
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology plus 4 years practical experience in electrical technology and/or field work
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering or related field plus 2 years practical experience in electrical technology and/or field work
  • Experience with modern electrical or control technologies
Desirable Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering or related field
  • Teaching/Training experience in the electrical technology field preferred
  • Experience at a community college environment
