Role Description The Solar and IT Infrastructure Support Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Buea. This role involves providing technical support for solar energy systems and related IT infrastructure, including installation assistance, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of equipment and networks. The engineer will diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues, ensuring system reliability, security, and optimal performance. Day-to-day tasks include responding to support requests, performing troubleshooting on-site, documenting incidents and resolutions, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to improve system design and user experience. The role also includes training end users on basic system operation and contributing to continuous improvement of support processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical support and troubleshooting skills for solar systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Solid foundation in Information Technology, including operating systems, hardware, and basic server/client concepts.
  • Experience with network administration and configuration of routers, switches, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, access control, and secure remote access.
  • Relevant technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and installation guides.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently on-site.
  • Effective communication skills for supporting diverse users and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, and monitoring platforms is an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in field conditions and comply with safety standards and procedures.
