Vantage Elevation

If you are a hands-on technical problem-solver who enjoys helping customers and turning complex equipment issues into practical solutions, then keep reading! We are searching for a customer-focused Electromechanical Product Support Specialist to join our Vantage team and support the Nexus Elevator Control System.

About Us

Vantage Elevation, LLC is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of elevator components and systems. Vantage is comprised of business units including GAL Manufacturing; GAL Canada; BSIS; Hollister-Whitney; Elevator Controls; Courion; Bore-Max; Thames Valley Controls; and Vertical Dimensions. Through its brands, Vantage supplies almost all electromechanical devices used in contemporary elevators. The Vantage group employs over 900 staff in multiple locations across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

About the Role

The Electromechanical Product Support Specialist helps customers, distributors, elevator mechanics, installers, and field technicians install, start up, diagnose, repair, and maintain the Nexus Elevator Control System. This is a hands-on equipment-support position, not an IT help-desk or network-support role. The work centers on electrical and mechanical equipment, including motors, relays, contactors, transformers, sensors, switches, brakes, doors, field wiring, and control circuits.

Support is provided primarily by phone from the Dallas office, with occasional travel to customer sites when an issue cannot be resolved remotely. The specialist uses wiring diagrams, controller prints, manuals, meter readings, field observations, and logical troubleshooting to identify the source of a problem and guide the customer through a safe, practical solution.

The strongest candidates are service technicians, maintenance technicians, equipment installers, mechanics, or other hands-on troubleshooters who have worked directly with electromechanical equipment. Experience may come from elevators, industrial machinery, aviation maintenance, HVAC, automated equipment, material handling, farm or construction equipment, power systems, or similar technical fields.

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant military, trade-school, apprenticeship, technical, or field-service training is valued

• Three or more years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, maintaining, repairing, or troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical equipment

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify how electrical controls interact with physical equipment and moving components

• Experience using wiring diagrams, schematics, service manuals, diagnostic procedures, and common electrical test equipment, such as a multimeter

• Ability to guide another technician through a repair by phone using clear questions, careful listening, and logical troubleshooting

• Ability and willingness to work around industrial equipment, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and travel to field locations when needed

• Strong mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical troubleshooting abilities

• Working knowledge of motors, relays, contactors, transformers, sensors, switches, brakes, doors, field wiring, and control circuits

• Ability to connect an electrical symptom to a mechanical condition and distinguish controller issues from installation or equipment issues

• Practical root-cause analysis skills and sound judgment when selecting tests, repairs, or escalation paths

• Professional customer-service and active-listening skills, with the ability to explain technical steps clearly to both experienced mechanics and less-experienced users

• Strong documentation, organization, and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage several customer issues simultaneously

• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn the Company’s case-management and business systems

• Experience in field service, industrial maintenance, equipment installation, elevator service, industrial machinery, aviation maintenance, HVAC, automated equipment, material handling, farm equipment, construction equipment, or power systems preferred

• Experience with elevator controllers or related control equipment preferred

• Associate degree or technical training in Electromechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, Electronics, Aviation Maintenance, HVAC, or a related discipline preferred

• Experience with equipment startup, commissioning, product testing, customer training, or technical documentation preferred

• Experience working with Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering teams to resolve equipment or product issues preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

• Providing phone and email support to elevator mechanics, installers, field technicians, distributors, customers, and internal employees

• Developing and maintaining subject-matter expertise in the Nexus Elevator Control System, including its components, operation, applications, diagnostic procedures, and product revisions

• Guiding field personnel through the installation, startup, adjustment, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of Nexus elevator controls

• Diagnosing electrical and electromechanical problems involving control circuits, motors, relays, contactors, transformers, sensors, switches, brakes, doors, wiring, and related elevator equipment

• Reading and interpreting controller prints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, parts manuals, service bulletins, and product specifications

• Asking focused diagnostic questions, reviewing meter readings and field conditions, and leading technicians through logical, step-by-step troubleshooting procedures

• Determining whether an issue originates in the Nexus controller, field wiring, installation, connected equipment, mechanical conditions, or the application

• Identifying failed or incorrect components and recommending repairs, adjustments, replacement parts, or product updates

• Traveling to customer sites as needed to inspect equipment, perform hands-on troubleshooting, support startups, resolve difficult field issues, or provide training

• Documenting symptoms, test results, field conditions, troubleshooting steps, parts used, and final resolutions in the support system

• Working with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Sales to resolve complex, recurring, or product-related concerns

• Supporting warranty reviews by gathering facts, evaluating failure conditions, and recommending appropriate corrective actions

• Performing other duties as assigned

Operations and Production Support

When customer-support workload permits, this position may also:

• Assist with controller assembly, panel wiring, component installation, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and rework

• Use hand tools, electrical test equipment, and production documentation within the employee’s training and assigned responsibilities

• Identify production or design issues that may affect product quality, reliability, installation, or serviceability

• Support product launches, peak workloads, training, and other operational priorities while maintaining customer response as the primary responsibility

Work Environment & Hazards

• Primarily office-based in Dallas, Texas, with frequent phone and computer work and regular interaction with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service

• Regular exposure to a manufacturing and testing environment and occasional exposure to installation or field-service locations

• Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment and compliance with applicable safety requirements when working in manufacturing, testing, installation, or field-service environments

• Travel as needed for equipment startup, field troubleshooting, customer support, or training

Special Physical Demands

• Ability to perform extended phone and computer work

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, use hand tools and test equipment, and safely move components within established job requirements

• Ability to move safely through manufacturing, testing, installation, and field-service environments

• Ability to use required personal protective equipment when entering applicable work areas

Internal & External Relationships

• Significant collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, and Customer Service

• Significant interaction with customers, distributors, elevator mechanics, installers, field technicians, and other technical partners
