Job description

The Desert Healthcare District is a local public agency serving the Coachella Valley with a vision to achieve optimal health at all stages of life for all District residents. The District encompasses approximately 400,000 residents across the nine incorporated cities and surrounding unincorporated communities of the valley. It was established in 1948 by the state of California to own and operate community hospital facilities, a role that ultimately led to the development of what is now Desert Regional Medical Center. The Chief Executive Officer position is responsible for executing this strategic vision, managing a $650 million voter-approved revenue stream and directing an extensive grantmaking portfolio. The Desert Healthcare District & Foundation is seeking a collaborative, transformative, and experienced leader to serve as the next Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate must offer a proven track record of mentorship and teambuilding, along with the capacity to excel at influencing and leading an organization towards positive growth. Candidates with the ability to review current organizational programs/structures and make recommendations that empower programmatic refinements are desired.

Analytical, writing, and presentation skills are essential to success in this role. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a similar area of study from an accredited institution, or the equivalent, along with seven (7) years of prior executive level experience as a successful leader of a healthcare organization. A Master’s degree is preferred. The annual salary for the outgoing Chief Executive Officer was $280,000. Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
