Job description

The Shipping/Receiving Team Lead oversees daily warehouse shipping and receiving activities, guiding a team of material handlers to ensure accurate orders, safe operations, and efficient workflow. The role manages key documentation, coordinates carrier pickups, audits outbound shipments, maintains 6S standards, and supports team performance through training and KPI monitoring


The Shipping/Receiving Team Lead will lead a material handling crew engaged in loading and unloading, arranging and routing materials internally in the warehouse and externally to customers. Will oversee picking and loading of trucks, create various documentation such as BOL’s, customer invoices and department reports. The Shipping/Receiving lead is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment with high morale and supporting the team’s goals and KPI’s.   Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, have excellent communication skills and knowledge using various material handling equipment.  

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Motivate a team of material handlers by setting a positive tone and leading by example
  • Promote Filtration Group’s mission and company culture
  • Coordinate the work and activities of others – getting members of a group to work together to accomplish tasks
  • Perform administrative duties: entering and printing BOL’s, notifying carriers for customer pick up and third party BOL’s, print packing slips for picking and key out shipments. E-mail reports to management and answer e-mail inquiries.
  • Ensure orders are being shipped to the correct locations at the most economical price meeting our customer’s expectations
  • Audit orders pulled by team members
  • Load and unload trucks and/or other containers using a variety of material handling equipment.
  • Develops and fosters various partnerships with carriers and logistics companies to ensure on-time pickup and reduced shipping rates
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area – 6s implementations and sustainability
  • Assists in setting and monitoring KPI’s and overall employee performance
  • Assists in the training, coaching and development of others to enhance their knowledge and skills
  • Perform duties safely wearing assigned personal protective equipment. Immediately report observed safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Repetitive motions including: walking, standing for long periods of time, wrapping above the head, wrapping below the knees, climbing up and down stairs, bending, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and unassisted lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment by promoting collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, customer service, production, and carriers to ensure alignment, resolve issues proactively, and maintain efficient operations.
  • Adherence to company stated policies and procedures

  • Previous experience in a lead role preferred.
  • Able to speak, read and write in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong sense of time organization and urgency to make deadlines and manage workload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Must be able to effectively type and have experience using Microsoft Office/ERP Systems/3PL Logistics Portals
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while in a fast-paced environment and maintain accuracy and organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear interactions with team members and management.
  • Customer focused with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Able to work at heights not above 30 feet without issues.
  • Able to reach, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.), twist, squat, push and pull.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • At least 2 years previous shipping and receiving experience, including forklift certification.
