Editors at Apple News highlight the best and most engaging content on our platform and make real-time decisions based on the day's events, curate content, write copy, and work cross-functionally to support News projects and goals.

The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent curation and headline-writing skills, the ability to communicate complex ideas simply, a genuine interest in local news, a mind for product development, and a deep understanding of what kinds of news is of interest to our diverse communities across the country.
On a day-to-day basis, the candidate will: Select top stories for different cities across the country, with an emphasis on quality, accuracy, and engagement; write sharp and engaging copy with the Apple News audience in mind; and work with our copy and standards team to ensure the work meets all aspects of our house style. This editor will work an early morning schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong editorial judgment and breaking-news experience
Deep newsroom experience, with a keen understanding of the information that matters to readers
Excellent writing skills
Ability to make decisions independently when news breaks during off-hours
Ease working across teams and incorporating feedback seamlessly into your work
Adaptability to new challenges
Five years experience working in news
Bachelor's degree or equivalent education
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of, and/or genuine interest in, working with local publishers and serving local news audiences
Comfort with data and analytics and applying that to editorial decision-making
Proficiency within content-management systems and a keen understanding of the tools that support state-of-the-art editorial
