Title: RCAM Lab Assistant (Part-time/Temporary) (Pool)

Department: Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM)

Campus Location: Northeast State at Kingsport

Salary: $30.00/hourly

Job Summary

Reporting to the Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM) Director of Operations, the RCAM Lab Assistant delivers standardized lab content to support training programs in a hands-on lab environment. They must complete the necessary training to qualify as an NCCER craft instructor.

Job Duties

โ€ข Deliver field-specific lab training content to a diverse audience.

โ€ข Occasionally serve as an SME for advanced development work of programs.

โ€ข Drive improvement in process effectiveness and efficiency.

โ€ข Adhere to RCAM schedule and inclement weather policies, which may differ from other NESCC schedules and/or closures.

โ€ข Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.ย 

Minimum Qualifications

Industrial Operations Lab Assistant:
โ€ข Craft qualified at the journey level of any instructional material being delivered
โ€ข Experience in an industrial setting or other qualifying experience as approved by supervision
Electrical, Mechanical, Machining, or Welding Lab Assistant:
โ€ข Experience at a minimum journey or technician level in their area of expertise
โ€ข Experience in an industrial setting or other qualifying experience as approved by supervision
Construction Lab Assistant:
โ€ข Experience at a minimum journey or technician level in their area of expertise
โ€ข OR a minimum of three yearsโ€™ experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program

Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Expertise in the field
โ€ข Previous teaching experience in skilled trades
โ€ข Apprenticeship Graduate
โ€ข Associate Degree
โ€ข Conversational ability or fluency in a second language

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

โ€ข Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
โ€ข Capable of learning new technology and applying the new technology in the lab environment
โ€ข Ability to self-direct and make sound decisions independently.
