Job description

Thrive By 5 has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher's Assistant/1:1 Aide for an Early Intervention Developmental Toddler Group

Group consists of 12 children with varying developmental delays. The position is for Tues/Weds/Thurs from 8:30 am to 2:45 pm at a community site in East Syracuse or M/W/F in our Mattydale location. Th pay rate is BOE. Additional staff on site will include a lead teacher, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.

The responsibilities of the position include:

  1. Provide support to teacher to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment.
  2. Assist the teacher in preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher.
  3. Provide 1:1 support to designated children (e.g., assisting with transitions, participation in classroom activities, etc.) as assigned by the classroom teacher and during times when these students are not receiving services outlined in their Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  4. Assist children with daily living skills (e.g., putting belongings away, toileting, hand washing, etc.).
  5. Clean up classroom at the end of the day (e.g., vacuum, clean and disinfect various surfaces, put toys back in appropriate locations, wash dishes, take out trash).
