Established in 1926, Family Service League is a social services agency transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services with more than 60 social service programs in over 20 locations.


SCHEDULE

Mondays 8:30AM -12:00PM

This position follows the Huntington School District calendar.


SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a part-time Teacher's Aide to assist in providing students with a solid curriculum-based program that offers them the educational, social and emotional components necessary to be prepared for pre-kindergarten. The Teacher’s Aide will be responsible for helping the Teacher with the day-to-day operation of the classroom.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Teacher’s Aide will assist in the implementation of the curriculum and supplement it with developmentally appropriate materials, lessons and activities.
  • Under the supervision of the teacher, utilize positive classroom management techniques to guide children's behavior.
  • The Teacher’s Aide will assist in the implementation of a structured daily routine.
  • Assist in the implementation of assessments of every student.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and positive classroom environment, with varied and appropriate materials available to students.
  • The Teacher’s Aide will demonstrate and facilitate appropriate conflict resolution, model kindness and empathy toward others.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

At least 1 year of experience working in a classroom or pre-school setting preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.

Must possess the ability to communicate in a positive and empathetic manner with children.

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required.

Spanish language fluency required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical activities require considerable use of arms and legs and moving of the whole body, such as bending, pushing, pulling, walking, stooping, and handling of various types of materials. Heavy lifting may be required. May need to lift up to 25 lbs.
