Since its founding in 1976, Hope Christian School has prayed for, equipped, and sent nearly 3,000 graduates to change the world. Annually, Hope Christian School educates approximately 1,400 students from Preschool through 12th grade. Job Summary: The Teacher Aide supports the classroom teacher in nurturing the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth of students. This position helps create a Christ-centered, developmentally appropriate learning environment where young children feel safe, loved, and encouraged to grow in both knowledge and faith.


The Teacher Aide assists with classroom instruction, daily routines, recess supervision, and driveline procedures while modeling Christ-like character in every interaction.


Instructional Support

  • Assist the teacher in delivering engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with curriculum standards and a Biblical worldview.
  • Work with small groups and individual students in early literacy, phonics, handwriting, math, and foundational skills.
  • Support early childhood routines including centers, guided reading, and learning stations.
  • Reinforce classroom concepts through repetition, modeling, and encouragement.
  • Help prepare classroom materials, manipulatives, crafts, and visual aids.
  • Assist with basic grading, organization, and student work displays.

Student Care & Daily Routines

  • Help students with transitions throughout the day.
  • Assist with bathroom breaks, handwashing, snack, and lunch routines as needed.
  • Support students in developing independence and responsibility.
  • Monitor rest time (if applicable in PreK/Kinder).

Classroom Management

  • Reinforce classroom expectations using consistent and loving guidance.
  • Help students practice kindness, sharing, and respectful communication.
  • Support conflict resolution using Biblical principles.
  • Maintain a calm, orderly, and joyful classroom environment.

Recess Supervision

  • Actively supervise students during recess to ensure safety.
  • Monitor playground equipment and safe play.
  • Encourage cooperation, and sportsmanship.
  • Help students navigate peer conflicts in a restorative and age-appropriate manner.
  • Maintain visibility and attentiveness at all times.

Driveline Duty

  • Assist with morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal.
  • Ensure students are safely escorted to and from vehicles.
  • Confirm proper student release according to school procedures.
  • Communicate warmly and professionally with parents and guardians.
  • Follow all safety and traffic flow protocols.
Requirements:
  • Have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
  • Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood coursework preferred.
  • Experience working with young children is strongly preferred.
  • The ability to obtain the New Mexico childcare requirement of 45-hour entry level within 6 months of employment.
  • Knowledge and experience in classroom management.
  • Agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
  • Demonstrates patience, warmth, and enthusiasm for early learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit on the floor and work at child-height tables.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to supervise outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

  • Active classroom environment with young children.
  • Regular outdoor supervision.
