Substitute teachers help maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment while following the plans and routines established by the classroom teacher. Reports To: Division Head or designated administrator Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Follow lesson plans, classroom routines, and school expectations provided by the teacher or division head. Supervise students and support a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.

Demonstrate warmth, flexibility, and genuine care for children of varying ages and developmental stages. Use appropriate classroom management strategies that align with school policies and expectations. Provide active supervision during class time, recess, lunch, transitions, dismissal, and other assigned duties.

Support student engagement and participation in age-appropriate learning activities. Communicate clearly and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Report student injuries, illnesses, accidents, behavioral concerns, or other significant issues to the appropriate division head or administrator as soon as possible.

Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and school facilities. Leave notes for the classroom teacher summarizing the day, including completed work, student concerns, and any important follow-up. Qualifications Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, or similar setting.

Understanding of child development and age-appropriate expectations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable, responsible, flexible, and professional.

Ability to follow directions and adapt to different classroom settings. Willingness to be called for short-term and/or longer-term substitute assignments. A.A

or B.A. degree and/or background in education or child development preferred, but not required. Must successfully complete Live Scan fingerprinting and background check requirements
