Job Summary:
As a Tea Food Runner in Goldie's Sunken Bar, you play a critical role in delivering an exceptional luxury Afternoon Tea experience. Working primarily from the second-floor tea preparation station, you are responsible for preparing hot tea orders, assembling Afternoon Tea presentations, and safely transporting tea service items to Goldie's Sunken Bar. This position requires exceptional organization, urgency, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and hospitality.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Tea Preparation and Order Execution:
- Receive Afternoon Tea orders through the designated GroupMe communication system and prioritize orders to ensure timely execution.
- Prepare hot tea orders accurately according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure all tea service components are complete, accurate and ready for delivery before leaving the tea preparation area
- Monitor tea inventory and communicate supply needs to leadership to ensure uninterrupted service
- Maintain consistency in tea quality, temperature and presentation throughout service.
- Food Running & Tea Service Support:
- Safely transport hot tea pots, tea towers and service items from the second-floor kitchen to Goldies Sunken Bar using designated routes.
- Exercise caution when carrying hot beverages and heavy tea towers to ensure the safety of guests and team members.
- Deliver Afternoon Tea components promptly while maintaining Proper Hospitality presentation standards.
- Coordinate closely with Tea Servers and bar staff to ensure seamless execution of each Afternoon Tea service.
- Assist with replenishing service items and responding quickly to additional tea requests throughout service.
- Bar Support & Dining Area Support:
- Assist Tea Servers with clearing tables, resetting place settings and maintaining an inviting dining environment.
- Support the execution of Afternoon Tea service by delivering additional food, beverages, utensils and service items as needed.
- Assist with opening and closing side work, including stocking, polishing and organizing service equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the tea preparation station, service areas and storage spaces
- Support other Food & Beverage outlets or team members as business needs require.
- Safety & Sanitation Standards:
- Setup and maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked tea preparation station before, during and after service.
- Follow all sanitation, food safety, and health department standards when preparing and transporting food and beverages.
- Regularly clean trays, carts, and any other service items to ensure sanitation standards are met.
- Properly clean and store tea equipment, service ware and preparation tools.
- Report equipment concerns or safety hazards to management immediately.
- Collaboration & Team Support:
- Maintain effective communication with Tea Servers, kitchen staff, bartenders and managers to ensure efficient service.
- Respond promptly to changing service demands and assist wherever needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting teammates during high volume periods.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment that reflects Proper Hospitality's service standards.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a food service or hospitality role, such as a busser or runner, is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures in a restaurant setting.
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when it comes to cleanliness and organization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work efficiently with team members and engage with guests as needed.
- Ability to stay focused and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and willingness to assist others when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and move around the dining room for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including trays, dishes, and supplies.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach to clean and organize the dining area.
