JORY is the signature restaurant at The Allison Inn & Spa. Our creative fine dining menus accentuate the flavors of the Willamette Valley with a strong influence on seasonal, garden-to-table agriculture. 

At The Allison Inn & Spa our working philosophy is a commitment to strive for excellence in all we do.  We are a passionate and empowered team, inspired by our surroundings and community.  At this time we are recruiting for one (1) part-time JORY Busser/Server Assistant. Compensation is $16.80 per hour. This position is Tip/Tipping Pool eligible. Please join our dedicated team in providing world class service and meaningful memories for our guests.

The Restaurant Server Assistant (SA) /Busser is a hospitality-minded individual with a personal and professional commitment to excellence and elevated service, and a constant consideration for others.

As the primary support role for our Restaurant Servers, the SA/Busser must be able to work in collaboration with others, be an excellent communicator, and be able to receive direction and assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment. 

You exude professionalism and are inquisitive, resourceful, and thoughtful. You must anticipate the needs of our guests and the Server team and be an essential part of our elevated approach to service.

Strong candidates will be driven, proactive, anticipatory, organized, and committed to exceptional service.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with Servers, Bartenders, Expo, and Managers to keep our restaurant running smoothly
  • Deliver a high level of hospitality and caring to our guests
  • Maintain a clean and elegant dining room by clearing, breaking down, and resetting tables 
  • Run food and deliver dishes to guests with efficiency and professionalism
  • Stock all stations with the needed glassware, cutlery, and dishes.
  • Monitor service areas in the bar, living room, and dining room
  • Serve In Room Dining orders and perform IRD dish collections
  • Other duties include but are not limited to: completing side work, brewing coffee and tea, cleaning, organizing, and restocking
  • Have knowledge and familiarity with our culinary and beverage menus, and a willingness to deepen expertise in these areas
  • Keep a neat, groomed, professional appearance as per The Allison guidelines. Be in a proper, clean, well-maintained uniform at all times
  • Maintain sanitation and cleanliness per Jory and Oregon state health guidelines
  • Follow service guidelines through the complete meal service
  • Serve as liaison with front desk and restaurant managers for guest needs and comments
  • Close restaurant properly, prepare for the next shift and complete side-work and cleaning daily
  • Any additional duties assigned by management

Job Skills/Requirements/Qualifications 

  • Required experience: 1 year in a restaurant or in customer service
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Interest in fine dining cuisine and elevated beverages 
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry is preferred
  • An enthusiastic, positive demeanor and desire to provide exceptional guest service
  • Must be available to work on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and evenings and holidays
  • Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, weekends, holidays, and blackout days
  • Adhere to The Allison Inn & Spa Food and Beverage grooming and appearance standards, or ability to adjust appearance accordingly
  • Possess an OLCC Service Permit
  • Possess a current Food Handlers Card
  • Clear pre-employment Background Check 

Working conditions/Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of heavy wine, boxes, supplies
  • Ability to carry up to 25 pounds across the distance of the various dining areas
  • Ability to reach with hand and arms, sit, stand, walk, use stairways to climb throughout the property, be in refrigerated areas, and to talk or hear
  • Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling for extended periods of time up to eight (8) hours per shift
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level is moderate
  • The work environment has frequent temperature swings as the employee moves between guest spaces, outdoors, and refrigerators for example
