What is a Td?

TD stands for 'Technical Director' in film, TV, and animation production. A Technical Director is responsible for developing and maintaining the technical processes and tools necessary for the artistic teams, such as animators or visual effects artists, to do their work efficiently. TDs bridge the gap between the creative vision and the technical implementation, often writing scripts or customizing software to solve workflow challenges. Their expertise ensures that complex visual effects, animation rigs, and rendering processes run smoothly within the production pipeline.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Td?

I'm sorry, but 'Td' does not appear to be a recognized real-world professional occupation, so I cannot provide an accurate answer.

What are the typical challenges faced by a Td in a collaborative production environment?

Technical Directors often navigate the challenge of balancing creative vision with technical feasibility, ensuring that artistic goals are met within production constraints. They regularly collaborate with diverse teams—such as artists, engineers, and producers—to solve complex problems and integrate new technologies. Coordinating workflows and maintaining clear communication across departments is crucial to managing timelines and delivering high-quality results. Additionally, TDs must stay adaptable, as project requirements and technologies can evolve rapidly during production.

Line of Business:

Personal & Commercial Banking

Job Description:

This role drives operational excellence for TD Auto Finance Retail Credit Operations by combining hands-on underwriting execution with data-driven analytics and disciplined credit decisioning. This role is accountable for pod-level performance outcomes, including capture, service delivery, credit quality, and adherence to credit policy and risk appetite, while identifying trends, risks, and opportunities that support sustainable portfolio growth. Provides guidance through expertise, influence, and delegated credit authority. The role partners closely with Sales and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver consistent, timely credit decisions, support portfolio performance through insights and early risk identification, and promotes underwriting consistency through calibration and continuous improvement.

Depth & Scope:

  • Leads pod-level data analysis and performance monitoring to identify emerging underwriting trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Drives pod engagement and execution strategies to optimize capture rates, efficiency, service delivery, and portfolio quality
  • Ensures comprehensive pod coverage by coordinating workflows and partnering with underwriting peers and leaders to meet business needs
  • Serves as an escalation point for complex dealer customer credit inquiries and sales calls, providing timely, well-reasoned guidance aligned to credit policy and risk appetite
  • Actively underwrites Retail Credit auto loan applications in accordance with credit policy, procedures, and delegated authority
  • Reviews exceptions and higher-risk or high-dollar credit decisions within delegated authority; escalates decisions outside authority in accordance with established governance
  • Conducts and reviews Early Warning Indicators (EWI), First Payment Default (FPD), and Loss Deal Analysis to inform risk mitigation actions and underwriting adjustments
  • Supports underwriting consistency by contributing to quality gates, calibration reviews, and best-practice sharing across pods
  • Provides informal coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer to analysts and senior analysts to strengthen decision quality and consistency
  • Participates in new hire training activities and onboarding support as needed (content and technical guidance, not performance management)
  • Leads or contributes to small-scale initiatives, working groups, and ad hoc reporting or audit requests as needed

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3+ years of underwriting or credit analysis experience, preferably in auto finance
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into action
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coordinate, and drive outcomes across stakeholders without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain credit decisions and risk rationale clearly to Sales and internal partners
  • Proven ability to balance strategic priorities with production accountability in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective time management and sound judgment, including escalation discipline and decision-making within delegated authority
  • Ability to provide expert guidance within primary areas of responsibility, leveraging technical expertise and relationships to drive business outcomes
