Job description

Purvis Gray is currently seeking a Tax Staff professional to join our Business Tax Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals to build a strong foundation in tax compliance and advisory services. You’ll work on a variety of client engagements across industries, gaining hands-on experience and access to senior-level mentorship from the start.Since 1946, Purvis Gray has grown into six offices throughout Florida—each built organically, not by acquisition. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality service, supporting professional development, and maintaining a unified, collaborative culture.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare U.S. federal and state tax returns for individuals (Form 1040 and 1041), Exempt Orgs (Form 990) partnerships (Form 1065), and corporations (Form 1120 and 1120-S)
  • Assist in preparing supporting tax workpapers and income calculations
  • Conduct research on federal and state tax laws to support compliance and planning strategies
  • Participate in client meetings and help resolve tax-related matters
  • Work with Managers and Seniors to ensure accurate and timely delivery of tax engagements
  • Learn and apply firm standards, tools, and procedures for tax compliance
  • Collaborate with team members to meet client needs and deadlines
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required) CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification
  • 1–2 years of tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or internship settings preferred
  • Working knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax compliance concepts
  • Familiarity with tax software (e.g., CCH, GoSystem, OneSource) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Experience
  • Experience preparing individual (1040), partnership (1065), and corporate (1120) tax returns
  • Research and technical writing skills for supporting tax positions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related applications
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and in teams
  • Interest in working with private companies, entrepreneurs, and small-to-midsize businesses
