Job description

GenScript is seeking a Full-Time HR Payroll Tax Intern to support payroll tax tasks. 

This role is based onsite in Piscataway, NJ and is expected to last for a duration of 6 - 12 months. The pay-rate is $25 per hour. 

The schedule is Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM with 4 days onsite. We provide complimentary lunch for onsite staff. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and review of federal, state, and local payroll tax filings
  • Support reconciliation of payroll tax liabilities against payroll registers and general ledger accounts
  • Help monitor multi-state tax registrations, and assist in tracking and applying updates to state/local tax rates, wage bases, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Assist with quarterly and annual payroll tax reconciliations
  • Help identify and troubleshoot payroll tax discrepancies or notices from tax agencies
  • Any other projects and ad-hoc duties that may be assigned

Key Qualifications:

  • Fast learner with ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Able to attend to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Mandarin Chinese speaker is preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Self-driven individual and able to work independently
