Job description

Tax Director

Location: SeaTac, Washington (Partial Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Director of Tax for a contract role focused on providing senior technical tax leadership. This position is a backfill for a Tax Director dedicated to an Oracle ERP implementation and is crucial for supporting tax provision, compliance review, and year‑end filing activities. The role requires a hands‑on approach, functioning as a senior technical reviewer and individual contributor within a collaborative team environment. This is not a people management position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Q3 and year‑end 2026 tax provision process, including ASC 740 tax accounting for a public company.
  • Review federal and state income tax compliance, including corporate tax returns, estimates, and workpapers.
  • Provide expertise in fixed assets and depreciation‑related tax matters within a capital‑intensive environment.
  • Perform both Director‑level and hands‑on Manager‑level review work, particularly during the year‑end close period.
  • Assist with 10‑K filing support and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Oversee the analysis of proposed projects and initiatives for tax impact.
  • Consult on various tax issues and manage projects with outside service providers.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise with ASC 740 and public company tax provisions (quarterly and year‑end).
  • 8 years of experience in a tax function, with experience in a public company or public accounting environment.
  • Experience with federal and state income tax compliance review.
  • Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in the Seattle area.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, a business‑related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Director of Tax or a Senior Tax Manager.
  • Expertise in fixed asset tax matters.
  • Experience with multi‑state tax, state apportionment, or airline industry tax.
  • International tax exposure.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
