Job description

Lineage is seeking a detail oriented and proactive Indirect Tax Analyst to support the company's growing indirect tax function. This role focuses on exemption certificate management, business license compliance, indirect tax accounting, data preparation, and recurring sales & use tax return filings. You will work closely with the Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax, as well as cross functional teams across Finance, Operations, and IT.

Key Responsibilities

Exemption Certificate Management

  • Lead the exemption certificate repository, ensuring certificates are current, accurate, and properly categorized.
  • Request, track, and validate exemption certificates from customers and vendors.
  • Monitor expirations and proactively follow up to maintain compliance.

Sales & Use Tax Compliance

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales & use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Update and prepare monthly sales & use tax files to ensure accurate and timely return preparation.
  • Review invoices to identify indirect tax liabilities, taxability issues, and potential exposure.
  • Assist in gathering and validating data for refund claims, audits, and reconciliations.

Business License Compliance

  • Prepare, file, and maintain business license registrations and renewals across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Track filing deadlines and ensure timely submissions.

Indirect Tax Accounting & Reconciliations

  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations for:
    • Sales & use tax
    • Property tax
  • Maintain documentation supporting monthly balances and adjustments.
  • Consistently update and refine the property tax accrual forecast based on new data, assessments, and operational changes.

Data Extraction & Return Preparation

  • Extract, clean, and organize data needed for indirect tax filings and analyses.
  • Assist in preparing annual personal property tax returns, including asset listings, additions, disposals, and location updates.
  • Support data validation for audits, refund claims, and internal reporting.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with AP, AR, Operations, and IT to resolve data issues and improve tax data quality.
  • Support the Senior Analyst and broader tax team on audits, refund claims, and process improvements.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, checklists, and internal controls.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in indirect tax, accounting, or related compliance functions.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling, data transformation).
  • Experience with Power BI or other data analytics tools (Tableau, Alteryx, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fastpaced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with exemption certificate platforms or tax engines.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Workday, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Exposure to multijurisdictional sales/use tax or property tax filings.
