Role : Oracle Fusion Tax Consultant
Location : Dallas, TX (Remote)
Job Type : Full time
The salary is between $140k to $160k Gross (Combination of both Base and QPLC).
Primary Skills
5+ years' experience with Oracle Fusion Tax and Vertex tax engines. Strong understanding of indirect taxation (Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST, Withholding Tax).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Configuration & Compliance
  • Support Oracle Fusion Tax and Vertex configurations for Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST, and Withholding Tax across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure proper tax determination, tax exemption handling, and product/service taxability mapping.
  • Maintain Tax Rules, Tax Rates, Tax Reporting Codes, and Tax Registrations within Oracle Fusion.
  • Support Supply Chain Taxation, ensuring correct tax treatment for procurement, intercompany transactions, and drop shipments.
  • Provide expertise for Intercompany Tax Compliance, ensuring correct tax accounting for cross-entity transactions and transfer pricing.
  • Maintain Tax Compliance for Network Billing, correctly applying tax for third-party billing flows.
  • Receive, analyze, and prioritize related support tickets.
  • Provide timely solutions to users.
  • Document resolution steps and knowledge base articles.
  • Support system upgrades and patches.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Tax Integration Support.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Vertex tax calculations in Oracle Cloud Payables (AP), Receivables (AR), and Intercompany.
  • Ensure accurate tax calculation on supplier invoices, customer invoices, and intercompany settlements.
  • Support Tax on Procurement Transactions, ensuring accurate tax determination on POs and supplier invoices.
  • Maintain correct tax treatment for self-assessed tax (Use Tax, Reverse Charge VAT) in AP transactions.
  • Resolve Tax impacts on Intercompany Invoicing and Netting, ensuring tax compliance across legal entities.
  • Support tax implications of Supply Chain Financial Orchestration (SFO) transactions, including drop shipments and intercompany flows ERP & Tax System Integration.
  • Maintain Vertex integration with Oracle Cloud ERP (AP, AR, IC, SFO) and troubleshoot integration issues.
  • Debug Tax Calculation Failures in Fusion and Vertex, identifying missing configurations or rule conflicts.
  • Manage Vertex API Calls, Web Services, and Tax Data Feeds SQL & Data Analysis Write queries to extract tax-related data from tables such as ZX_LINES, ZX_RATES, ZX_REPORTING_CODES, AP_INVOICES, AR_TRANSACTIONS, and IC_TRANSACTIONS Debug tax discrepancies in AP, AR, and Intercompany invoices.
  • Analyze tax data for audit purposes, variance checks, and reconciliation Identify and resolve slow tax calculation jobs, tax rule processing issues, and invoice tax posting Ensure Vertex tax engine performance is optimized for high-volume transaction processing Tax Reporting & Period Close.
  • Generate Tax Reports for Compliance and Audit (VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, Withholding Tax, etc.).
  • Reconcile Tax Balances between Subledger (AP, AR, IC) and General Ledger (GL) Support period-end tax processing, ensuring accurate tax calculations, accruals, and adjustments Compliance, Audit & Reporting.
  • Ensure SOX compliance in tax processing, maintaining proper controls for tax approvals and changes.
  • Support tax audits, providing transaction-level tax details and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure Vertex Tax Updates and Quarterly Oracle Cloud Tax Updates are properly tested and implemented.
  • Manage Tax Data Reconciliations between Vertex, Fusion Tax, and General Ledger.
  • Prepare and validate Tax Liability Reports, Exemption Reports, and Withholding Tax Reports.
  • Assist tax teams in reconciling tax postings across AP, AR, and Intercompany transactions.
  • Support Tax Forecasting and Accruals for Supply Chain Transactions Operational & Support Processes.
  • Utilize Vertex & Oracle Support (MOS - My Oracle Support).
  • Create and manage Service Requests (SRs) for tax calculation issues, Vertex exceptions, invoice errors, and tax updates.
  • Use Vertex Support Portal (MyVertex) to log issues, track patches, and access tax knowledge bases.
  • Monitor and support quarterly Oracle Cloud updates for tax configurations, ensuring tax rule accuracy.
  • Perform regression testing when engine changes and Oracle Cloud ERP patches affect deployment.
  • Ensure tax updates are thoroughly tested for Payables, Receivables, Intercompany, and SFO transactions.
  • Assist finance, tax, procurement, and supply chain teams with tax-related issues.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tax processing, audit preparation, and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of indirect taxation (Sales & Use Tax, VAT, GST, Withholding Tax)
  • 5+ years' experience with Oracle Fusion Tax and Vertex tax engines
  • Knowledge of tax configurations across multiple tax jurisdictions
  • Experience with tax integration in ERP systems, particularly Oracle Cloud
  • Proficiency in SQL for tax-related data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience with tax reporting and compliance requirements
  • Understanding of period-end tax processes and reconciliations
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements for tax processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex tax calculation issues
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams including finance, tax, and IT
