Job description

The Menifee Police Department is excited to announce its promotional Sergeant recruitment. Qualified candidates will be required to undergo a multi-faceted process prior to filling this integral position within our organization. This is a promotional opportunity for current Menifee Police Department employees only.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university (or 60 semester/90 quarter college units leading to a Bachelor's degree)

Coursework in Police Science, Criminal Justice Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, is desirable. At least five (5) years of service as a full-time, sworn peace officer with a public agency including at least 2 years of patrol and/or investigations experience. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record.

Possession and maintenance of a valid California POST Basic Certificate or California POST Basic Course Waiver. Possession of a valid California POST Intermediate Certificate or out-of-state equivalency. A California POST Intermediate Certificate must be obtained within 18 months of appointment if using an out-of-state equivalency to meet minimum qualifications.

Possession of a valid California POST Advanced Certificate is desirable. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must currently be employed as a Menifee Police Officer in good standing and must have successfully completed probation. Must possess U.S

Citizenship at time of appointment. SELECTION PROCEDURE The Police Sergeant examination process will be discussed at this informational meeting. Attendance at this meeting is not required to apply for or participate in the examination process.

Applicants possessing the required qualifications will be invited to participate in the examination process. All qualified applicants will be assessed on job-relevant qualifications, including possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the Sergeant position; ability to perform essential job functions; and related education, training, and experience. Qualified candidates will receive information related to specific dates and times for each section of the examination and selection process.

Sergeant Recruitment Timeline: Posting opens: Thursday, Aug. 13th Posting closes: Sunday, Aug 23rd @ 11:59PM Testing to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 26th: written test.

360 eval. To be sent after test results come back Assessment Center: Approx. Monday, Sept.

14th Assessment # 1 - Verbal Resume/Autobiography Assessment #2 - Mock Tasks Assessment #3 - Panel Interview HR to provide rating matrix with detailed justifications Eligibility list to be established around Monday, Sept. 21st Chief interviews to be scheduled at a later date. Eligibility List Candidates who successfully complete all phases of the selection process will be placed on an eligibility list.

Current and future vacancies will be filled from this list. The eligibility list typically lasts for twelve (12) months but may be extended or abolished in accordance with the City's established Personnel Rules & Regulations.
