Ultimately, this role contributes to maximizing the impact of donations by ensuring timely and effective handling of all goods.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Basic proficiency with inventory management systems or willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with donation-based or nonprofit organizations.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating warehouse equipment.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and use of spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and external partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and unload incoming donations, verifying quantities and condition against donation records.
  • Sort, categorize, and organize donated items in designated warehouse areas to optimize space and accessibility.
  • Inspect donations for quality and safety, removing any items that do not meet organizational standards.
  • Prepare and package donations for distribution to partner agencies or direct recipients.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems and report discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with regular warehouse cleaning and maintenance to ensure a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate donation flow and meet distribution schedules.

Skills:

The required skills such as attention to detail and organizational ability are essential for accurately processing and categorizing donations, ensuring that all items are accounted for and stored properly. Physical stamina and safe lifting techniques are used daily to handle heavy or bulky donations efficiently and without injury. Proficiency or willingness to learn inventory management systems supports accurate tracking and reporting of warehouse stock levels. Preferred skills like forklift operation and prior warehouse experience enhance the associate's ability to manage large volumes of goods and operate equipment safely. Effective communication skills facilitate teamwork and coordination with supervisors and partner organizations, ensuring smooth donation flow and timely distribution.
