Job description

Overall: You are responsible for ensuring Public Media Network's programming and content reliably reach audiences across every distribution platform (cable television, streaming, web, and social) on schedule, every time. You manage the systems and workflows that get PMN's content out the door, and you produce short-form video promotion that helps PMN's programming and civic content reach new audiences. Your consistency and reliability in this role directly support PMN's long-term goals for audience growth, retention, and loyalty across all platforms.

Content Distribution
Manage content distribution from multiple sources across Public Media Network's various platforms, including cable television, online streaming, web video service applications, and website.
●     Manage and implement procedures for program series requests, programming airtime requests, ingest of content, and distribution of content.
●     Ensure accuracy of metadata and proper scheduling of live, replayed, and on-demand programming across all distribution platforms.
●     Monitor and maintain the reliability of distribution systems used by Public Media Network for programming.
●     Coordinate with producers to ensure proper scheduling of live programming events, including government meetings.
●     Create and publish, in electronic format, the PMN cable channel program guide and schedules.
●     Upload and maintain archived content, including metadata, closed captioning and audio description.
●     Generate, review, upload and maintain closed captioning, chapter indexing, and audio description across all platforms.
●     Maintain Media Bulletin Board content for digital displays in the Epic Center and Public Media Network access center.

Social Video & Promotion
Produce short-form video content and manage social distribution workflows to promote Public Media Network's programming and content, and to grow audience reach and engagement.
●     Produce short-form, social-ready video content (e.g., program promos, civic and creator content cutdowns), using tools for efficiency. Target: a minimum of 3–4 videos/week.
●     Manage social media posting workflow for video promotions.
●     Support promotion of PMN content across distribution channels.

What We're Looking For
●     Interest in local public interest media, civic engagement, and the Greater Kalamazoo community.
●     Comfort with technical systems and learning new technology and use of AI tools.
●     Comfort with basic video production tools.
●     Reliability, deadline-orientation, and attention to detail.

The How: Keys to Success!
●     Customer Service Orientation: View your work as supporting the whole and integral to the effectiveness of our programs.
●     Positive Attitude and Flexibility: Approach work with a spirit of yes; strike a positive tone; push work forward through obstacles and adapt quickly as things change,
●     100 percent follow-through: No dropped balls! Stay on top of tasks and follow-up items and general areas of work; consistently meet deadlines.
●     Community: Value the need for diversity in our community and work to relate to our volunteers, producers, and members.
●     Accountability: Operate with integrity and in an ethical and open manner. Recognize you are accountable to the community.
●     Continual Learning: Embrace a continual learning environment, recognizing we can always improve our product and services. Be proactive in learning, communicating and implementing best practices.
●     Efficiency: Work effectively while attending to both long-term plans and a variety of time-sensitive details. Proactively use systems, tools, and processes to maintain and improve efficiencies.

Part-time, hourly, non-exempt position, approximately 20 hours/week
Flexible Schedule while still meeting organizational needs, in-person at Public Media Network
Reports to: Operations Director
Compensation: $15.00/hour
