Job description

FUELS SUPERINTENDENT
JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY
The Site Superintendent will be assigned to Department of Defense (DoD) construction project(s) located in various regions. This individual will be responsible for directing, managing, supervising and coordinating the work and activities of the various trade groups on the work site to meet requirements as described in the statement of work or contracts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that the project maintains the required schedule by organizing, planning, monitoring, and inspecting work.
  • Prepare schedules or assist scheduler for pay estimates and 3–week look ahead.
  • Prepare takeoff or assist project engineer with all required materials and ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the site on time.
  • Assist project engineer in defining subcontract scope of work and verifying that the subcontractor is on the project when required and progress in accordance with the schedule.
  • Oversee that the activities of various workers do not interfere with one another.
  • Inspect the work of each trade and confirm that not only the quality of the work is up to standard, but that the work is being built in accordance with the plans and specifications.
  • Plan and run weekly progress meeting and assist in the performance of Quality Control preparatory meetings and inspection.
  • Assist with project estimates, bid packages, and schedule preparation and budgets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, or Engineering, with a minimum of three years experience (within the last 10 years) as a Site Superintendent, in construction of the installation of work including petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) facilities, tank rehabilitation, tank cleaning and repairs and emergency inspection OR a minimum of eight years construction experience (within the last 10 years) as a Site Superintendent with training in engineering and construction management
  • Completion of the Construction for Quality Management for Contractor course
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, standards, codes, and guidance
  • DoD construction experience and experience as a Site Superintendent of projects in remote and/or austere environments is desirable
  • API 653 certification and/or API 570 desirable
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to be able to communicate work requirements with various staff and subcontractors
  • Able to communicate both written and verbally in English
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change
  • Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices including occupational safety and health regulations
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulation
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires working at the construction job site for extended periods of time. The position may require working during weekends and extended hours in order to meet deadlines.
