This role focuses on safely unloading bulk magnesium and lime from tanker trucks, transferring product into storage silos, and supporting the injection process at steel mills. You monitor equipment, track data, and respond quickly to issues to keep operations running smoothly in a heavy industrial environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Offload trucks carrying magnesium and lime in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Connect hoses to tanker trucks and ensure secure, proper hookups before starting flow.
  • Track meters on the truck and monitor gauges to confirm correct product flow and volumes.
  • Inspect hose lines continuously to ensure there are no leaks, kinks, or obstructions.
  • Verify that product is properly transferring into the storage silo and not being lost or misdirected.
  • Observe the injection process at steel mills to ensure product is introduced correctly and consistently.
  • Track operational data to identify potential issues and intervene before problems escalate.
  • Monitor overall system performance and take immediate action if abnormalities appear.
  • Maintain required inventory levels of materials on site at all times.
  • Clean and organize the work area regularly to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Think quickly and troubleshoot issues as they arise, using sound judgment and mechanical aptitude.
  • Communicate promptly and clearly with supervisors and mill contacts when issues occur or assistance is needed.
  • Follow all training, procedures, and safety guidelines with strong attention to detail.
  • Lift, pull, bend, and perform other physical tasks throughout the day as part of daily operations.
  • Document data accurately both manually and in computer systems to maintain complete records.
  • Use hand and power tools to kink off hoses and stop liquid flow if issues occur.
  • Install new hoses or perform minor hose and equipment repairs when needed.
  • Provide flexible shift coverage when coworkers are absent, supporting overall team reliability.
Essential Skills
  • Former tank loading experience or demonstrated mechanical inclination.
  • Proven reliability and strong attendance habits.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to perform accurate computer data entry and complete manual documentation.
  • Mechanical inclination to troubleshoot equipment and minor hose issues.
  • Experience as a tank loader, loader, or in bulk shipping operations (strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operation in an industrial environment (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in steel mills or similar heavy industrial facilities.
  • Interest in being trained and developing skills in tank loading and related operations.
  • Experience with documentation review and maintaining accurate operational records.
  • Comfort working with meters, gauges, and other monitoring equipment.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift (typically Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.) and provide flexible coverage when needed.
  • Openness to 3rd shift work for future needs, providing additional scheduling flexibility.
  • Mechanical aptitude to identify and address minor issues before they become major problems.
Why Work Here?

You join a growing company that is early in its development and offers the chance to grow with the organization from an early stage. The team values flexibility and supports work-life balance, working collaboratively with employees to accommodate personal needs when possible. Competitive pay and clear pathways for increased earnings, including the potential for significant hourly rate growth upon full-time hire, make this a compelling long-term opportunity for motivated individuals.

Work Environment

You work on site in a very heavy industrial steel environment, operating within a large mill facility. The setting involves exposure to industrial equipment, bulk materials, and active production processes, requiring consistent awareness of safety and surroundings. The role is most likely on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with an expectation of flexibility to cover other shifts when coworkers are absent and potential future opportunities on 3rd shift. You use hoses, meters, gauges, hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment as part of daily operations. Steel-toe footwear is required, and you must complete all necessary compliance clearances before starting.
