The CDL HazMat Driver is responsible for the safe and compliant transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous chemical products to customer locations, terminals, plants, and storage facilities. This position ensures deliveries are executed according to state and federal regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. The Driver plays a key role in representing the Company and maintaining a strong safety culture during all loading, unloading, and driving activities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Driving & Delivery
Safely operate tractor-trailers, tankers, or other assigned equipment in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, and HazMat regulations.
Transport hazardous and non-hazardous chemical products to customers, Company facilities, or partner locations.
Perform safe loading and unloading operations using approved procedures, including pumps, hoses, valves, and fittings.
Maintain accurate logs, trip records, and electronic logging device (ELD) data.
Ensure vehicle and trailer are properly placarded and documented before departure.
Safety & Compliance
Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT requirements.
Follow all OSHA, HazMat, PPE, spill prevention, and emergency response procedures.
Report any equipment issues, defects, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Maintain 100% compliance with Hours of Service (HOS), route restrictions, and chemical transportation requirements.
Follow strict protocols to prevent product contamination or incompatible loading.
Customer Service & Communication
Provide professional and courteous service to customers during deliveries.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, maintenance, and operations regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
Complete delivery paperwork, BOLs, and documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
Represent the Company with a high level of professionalism and safety awareness at all times.
Operational Support
Assist with tank washes, residue checks, fittings, and equipment preparation as needed.
Participate in required company meetings, safety trainings, and certifications.
Support emergency response and spill containment efforts if trained and required.
Help maintain tanker cleanliness, hose integrity, and equipment readiness.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL Class A required.
  • HazMat (H), Tanker (N), and/or combination (X) endorsements required.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Experience hauling chemicals, bulk tankers, pressurized tanks, or hazardous materials preferred.
  • TWIC card may be required depending on route assignments.
